GAME ONE RECAP
In the first game of the season St. Rose walked into RFH’s home gym and game away with a win. The game was full of twist and turns. St. Rose lead by as many as 23 points in the 3rd quarter and it appeared to be a walk in the park. But Julia Corsentino who earlier had scored her 1000th point put on her superwoman cape. She turned into a one women wrecking crew and RFH cut to the lead to 5 in the 4th quarter before falling 55-49. Senior Maggie Cavanaugh had 14 points and 8 rebounds. Julia Whesper had a dream game with 14 points 5 rebounds and a bucket of steals. But the real story of the game was freshman Jada Lynch who lived up to all her preseason expectations. She had 16 points, 6 rebounds, 2 dimes and 2 asst. She totally took over the game down in the final minutes. Julia Cosentino finished with 24 points. But it was the play of Junior Ella Mason and Abby Boyle that had to make the Bulldog faithful excited. Mason had 10 big points and is proving and Abby Boyle had 9 rebounds.

RFH has once again played one of the most demanding schedules in the state. They have come up Short in all three game vs Top 20 games. All games that they had a chance to win, only to come up short and catch a few bad breaks. The offense will be centered on Julia Corsentino who is averaging 17.5 points and 4.5 rebounds. Emma Mason has been solid as a rock all season, she has scored in double figures in multiple games this season. She has been a nice surprise for the Bulldogs on offense. Transfer Raquel Guidetti, got off to a slow start this season but now is cooking. The junior guard has scored in double figures her last 4 games and was recently named to the WOBM All Tournament team. Sylvie Notine is the 4th guard in the starting lineup. She is a blue collar player who is averaging 6 points a game. The Final starter is Dylan Cahill, the season vet who is battled tested and counted on to rebound, play defense and knock down open three’s. Freshman Erin Reid and the every improving Abby Boyle will come off the bench. They will press and keep teams off balance with different levels of traps. They will play hard and will never quit on a game. This is a team whose identity is based on team effort and team energy.

OVERVIEW
They may play the hardest schedule in the state. They will play 9 Top 20 teams. They have wins over 3 Top 20 teams this season. The offense has a number of scorers and shooters. Senior Maggie Cavanaugh is averaging 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 dimes a game. Meanwhile fellow senior Rosie Scognamigilo is averaging 11 points a game and 3 rebounds a game. Both are battled tested seasoned defenders as well as D1 players. Sr Julia Whesper has done it all this year. She has scored, rebounded and given the team a jolt of energy. Her 8 points and 3 rebounds are just icing on the cake. Sophomore Cassidy Kruesi has been the unsung hero, she is averaging 9 points a game. But the real story is that she one of the best defenders in the Shore. freshman Jada Lynch has been dominate at time this season. She is a explosive scorer and elite rebounder. She is averaging 8.7 points and over 6 rebounds a game. The bench is deep and talented. Lizzy Mitchell is a deadly shooter, Emily Cavanaugh is a true play maker. Caroline Conforti has been solid as a rock and excellent rebounder. Brooke Missry is someone Mary Beth will not hesitate to call on. They have lots of scorers but this team entire identity is built on defense.

STRENGTHS
RFH– Julia Cosentino is very capable of taking over this game. Make no mistake RFH will play to the final whistle. They are mentally tough and not afraid to compete. They have played and seen the best competition at the high school level. There are a excellent three point shooting team that takes a lot of free throws, very rare for a three point shooting team. They play 4 guards making them very hard to matchup against and allows to press at any time. Four of there starters have played a lot of minutes in there career, making them battle tested. Abby Boyle is a real weapon off the bench on defense and cleaning up the boards.
ST. ROSE– They just may be the best defensive team in the entire state. They game planning is exceptional night in and night out. They have lights out shooters in every position. They have played stiff competition all year. They start 3 truly seasoned seniors. There talent level this side of RBC and SJV is unmatched in the shore conference. Maggie Cavanaugh is a true warrior and leader. They will not fold under pressure having played in so many tight game this year.
WEAKNESS
RFH-They have lost late games late. against top teams. The rely heavily on Julia Corsentino to carry there offense. They have struggled in transition defense on miss shots at times.. Shot selection at times can be a issue in the middle ot games. They have few little offensive firepower off the bench
St. Rose– Turnovers are a major issue for this team. They have been known to give up leads and not finish teams off. Size is a issue at times in the post. The biggest weakness of all for this team is it lack of composure at times.
ADVANTAGE/DISADVANTAGE
THE GUARDS
RFH– Julia Corsentino is a walking bucket. The future D1 guard who signed at Marist College can score in many different ways. She get to the foul line or shoots threes. She is the ultimate tough shot maker, especially late in games. She is one of the best players in the Shore Conference. Sylvie Notine once again is one of the most underrated players in the Shore. She can make threes and handle the ball under pressure and turn the lights out on opponents. She is a big game player and shot maker. Ella Mason was the 2nd best scorer on the team earlier in the year. She is a excellent shooter with range. Raquel Guidetti has officially taken over the Robin role to Cosentino’s Batman act. She can score and make plays off the dribble. She will be a much different player than St. Rose saw in game one. She is very capable of a big night this evening.
ST ROSE– Maggie Cavanaugh and Rosie Scognamiglio are a handful. They both are two way players and bring too many intangabies to list. Rosie will streth the RFH defense and Maggie Cavanaugh will break it down. Cassidy Kruesi is a elite defender who is a deadly three point shooter when left open. Julia Whesper is the enigzer bunny and her scoring is unrated. Lizzy Mitchell can come off the bench and change games with her shooting. This group brings lots of matchups problems to the table.
ADVANTAGE. ST. ROSE... on most nights RFH can win the guard matchup on paper in a walk. The problem is St. Rose guards not only score, they defend and rebound and are all playmakers and there lots of them
THE FORWARDS
DAYLAN CAHILL it seems has been around forever. She is smart and battle tested. She also will step away from the basket and knock down three’s. Abby Boyle is one of the best keep secrets in the Shore. She is a big time athlete and brings real toughness to the lane. She is a excellent rebounder in traffic and can score when asked to do so. Erin Reid might be the wild card, She has big strong body and could serve as a nice matchup against the physical Jada Lynch. This is group is without question the most underrated frontline in the shore conference.
ST. ROSE- JADA LYNCH was a handful for St. Rose in the first game of the year. She is explosive and can score inside or out. She is the most talented player in this game today. Caroline Conforti is more experienced that most realize having started most of her freshman year for St. Rose, until a injury last year. She is a excellent rebounder and can shoot to 18 feet. She is tough and physical and a excellent high post passer. Brooke Missry could be a wild card. She is a excellent shooter with a very high IQ
ADVANTAGE- RFH– The RFH frontline is just bigger and stronger and has played way more minutes recently. This frontline could be different maker tonight. Erin Reid is very capable of matching up with Jada Lynch
THE BENCH
RFH– Abby Boyle and Erin Reid give RFH a real physical lift and size off the bench. Anna Gredell has scored in every game this year, except the first game vs St. Rose. Everyone else off the bench today will simply be giving teammates a quick blow.
ST. ROSE– Emily Cavanaugh is a true playmaker and did not play in game one. She could be a real matchup problem for RFH tonight. Lizzy Mitchell is a proven scorer. Caroline Conforti is fearless and will not fold under pressure. Brooke Missry can bring scoring and real IQ and talent to the floor.
ADVANTAGE- ST. ROSE- They can bring all types of players off the bench. Scorers, shooters, ball handlers and rebounding.
THE INTANGIBLES
RFH– They will hustle and hustle some more. In a nutshell team tell will not surrender. They also know they have the ultimate weapon late in games in Julia Corsentino
ST ROSE – They have so much extended game experience. There the defense and set plays late in games are special.
ADVANTAGE- ST. ROSE….There senior experience and ability get stops late in games are undeniable .
WHAT TO EXPECT?
This game will look nothing like the first game. First it now at RFH and next, we are now 4 weeks into the season. I believe points are going to be hard to come by early tonight. I say Cassidy Krusei gets the call early on Julia Corsentino,. I expect St. Rose to double her early forcing RFH to find another primary scorer. That could be Raquel Guidetti who will have Maggie Cavaughn on her forcing her to left as they did in game one. The difference is Guidetti is dripping with confidence these days. Emma Mason will need to make some open three’s. She and Notine may find themselves open if Corsentino is getting doubled. If there is one thing Notine has proven over and over….SHE IS A MONSTER IN BIG GAMES. St. Rose is going to get out and run on missed shots, but they will need to make good decisions tonight. That’s because RFH will not let them get that big lead tonight. This game is going to down to the wire and turnovers may decide it. Next Rosie will have to make some three’s tonight. That’s because Julia Corsentino no doubt will hit some and St. Rose can’t lose the three point shooting war by more than 2 or 3; anything more than and they are in serious trouble. Look for St. Rose is rotate defenders on Corsentino. When RFH goes to zone they must make them pay and RFH I do believe will play zone at some point because St. Rose is known for it’s half court offense and layups.
MY PICK?
Erin Reid has had a tough start to her freshman year. She missed much of preseason and then missed a few games recently. I don’t see how she can be 100% and I believe she is the only player on the RFH roster than matchup with Jada Lynch. I also think Mary Beth Chambers is a master at game planning players and will be waiting on Cosentino. She will not care how many points she scores, but she will be very happy if she can turn Cosentino into a high volume shooter. RFH knows with Decker not in the lineup, this may be their best chance to get St. Rose on the road. There is no question in my mind Raquel Guidetti is the biggest wild card in this game. If she can go big, RFH could walk away smiling tonight. I believe Coach Dave Callahan will throw everything and the kitchen sink at St. Rose. But in the end I always go with two things… talent and the home court. St. Rose has a edge in both
I SAY ST. ROSE IN A INSTANT CLASSIC!
TOMORROW IT’S GO TIME
