SJV..OH NO….DON’T STOP NOW!

It feels so wrong and it has to hurt, there has to be a empty feeling in Holmdel. St. John Vianney has done all a team could do this year. They have jump every hurdle put in front of them. They played like a team on a mission. They carried on the SJV tradition of greatness and they did it like no other team in SJV history. They’ve been a group that has stepped up like no team in recent SJV history. But yesterday the State halted the final chapter in what was shaping up as one the greatest seasons in recent Shore history. SJV has won every Championship they were given a chance to win..the SCT and the NON PUBLIC A State Title were nice chips. But there was one more left, the TOC. SJV will not get chance to add that final chip.

Coach Karpell did her best coaching job of career this year. She has taken a team that lost 4 D1 starters and was able to lead her team to a SCT title and the State title. She was flexible and creative with her team this year. They all responded to her. Her team made sacrifices for each other all season. Madison St. Rose has been turned into a superstar. Katie Hill is a superstar too, but she let Madison St. Rose have the spotlight. Emma Bruen and Ashley O’Connor were suppose to be the wild cards. Nobody knew what to expect from both. What they got were All Shore Seasons from both. Megan Cahalan was asked to be the anchor this year in the paint. She was not just a anchor, she was the best anchor in the Shore Conference. Christina Whitehead, was expected to start this year. Instead Dawn Karpell turned her in the best 6th man maybe in the state of New Jersey. Freshman Jamie Bachmann and Mikaela Hubbard were two freshman. But they were freshman who were thrown into the fire. They both delivered and now are looking like another two SJV superstars in waiting.

It’s a shame SJV will not get a shot at that last piece of the triple crown. But it will not take away from what the team has accomplished this year. A team that was a tight group. A team that grew it seemed liked every game. They didn’t have a senior this year, but they didn’t need one. That’s because they trusted and enjoyed playing with each other all year. THEY ALL THOUGHT THE SAME WAY…They each took on a role and played their role to perfection. So SJV will have to settle for being the greatest team in SJV history who didn’t get a chance to finish one of the greatest seasons. But we have all saw enough to know this was a special group. The #1 Team in the State of New Jersey and the best team in the best conference in the country…. THAT’S NOT A BAD WAY TO END THE SEASON!

THE ROSTER OF GREATNESS…BUT MORE THAN THAT THEY ARE GREAT KIDS AND DARE I SAY THESE WORDS…..

THE BEST GROUP OF PARENTS IN THE SHORE CONFERENCE!
