We are moving closer to the SCT as the season winds down. So what do I know right now?
MY ALL SHORE TEAM…I think right now three of these spots are up for grabs come SCT time. I don’t factor the State into my decision. This is a Conference thing. There is always a player who may have a monster SCT and crack though. But it would need to be a defining SCT to jump these 8 players. JENNA PAUL and KATIE RICE could fall into that category.
1st TEAM ALL SHORE CANIDIATES
Dara Mabrey-Manasquan
Jose Larkins-RBC
Hannah Scanlan- RFH
Kimi Evans – SJV
Dezzy Allen- NEPTUNE
Rose Caverly- RBC
Stella Clark- Manasquan
Ashley Tutzauer- TRN
THE ENTIRE ST. ROSE STARTING 5
My All Freshman Team is interesting. First you have to understand that some super freshman barely played this year. The leading canidiate for Freshman of the year going into the season, Camerin Flotz has been out all year. Molly Lynch and Fabienne Eggenschwiler play for two of the best teams in the state with upperclassmen. This has opened the door for other babies. I have to be honest 4 of these spots are a totally wrap.
1st TEAM ALL FRESHMAN TEAM CANIDIATES
Paige Slaven- Donovan Catholic
Karmeri Reynolds- Manchester
Kayla Richardson- MIDDLETOWN South
Makayla Andrews- Neptune
Serenity Anderson- Manchester
Karolina Jaruseviciute- Donovan Catholic
Kate Leturgez- Point Boro
Lucy Adams- RFH
PLAYER OF THE YEAR let’s face it, this really comes down to the SCT. But a player has to put themselves in position before they get to the SCT. I think this is for all practical purposes a 3 horse race but we will see. But for right now for Hannah Scanlan, its hers to lose. But Dara Mabrey is right on her heels in a big way. Dezzy Allen has come on strong and of course Kimi Evans is the wild card, because let’s be honest, she is the one difference maker no other team has.
THE FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR is up for grabs like no other year. All these freshman have had major impacts on there teams. But it’s clear Kermari Reynolds and Kate Leturgez are the clubhouse leaders. Both have been great right out the gate and multiple Freshman of the Week winners. But Paige Slaven while not putting up Huge numbers may be having the biggest impact of all the babies on her team. Finally Kayla Richardson has played against the best competition and played lights out. If Midd SOUTH as team steps up…she could step in and steal the award.
COACH OF THE YEAR really won’t be decided until after the SCT. BUT VIKKI GILLEN has TRN IN THE TOP 10. That’s kind of hard to beat right now. She did all this without her future D1 guard Brielle Bisogno playing a second this year. But Tammy Nicolini and BARNAGET are not done and she has a real case. In any other year this award would be a wrap after what Dave Callahan has done. Joe Montano has done one of the best coaching jobs in years. Dave BEAUCHEMIN folks could steal this award in the SCT. Dawn Karpell lost 5 starters and is still a real contender.
These Five Players Stock has risen on the recruiting front. These players in 4 0f the 5 cases have offers already. But they are going to find come April, they will have even more opitions available to them. Shannon McCoy is going to be very much in high demand as July rolls around. What do they all have in common? Each has gotten better and improved on a skill set that was a weakness a year ago…I LIKE THAT LADIES…
Shannon McCoy- Barnaget
Katie Rice- RBC
SARA KARPELL- SJV
Jess Broad- Marlboro
Jenna Paul- TRN
MY 8th Grade Blog will be out tomorrow. It will list all the best 7th and 8th grade players from around the state. It’s a serious 8th grade group. The deepest in 7 years. This class is going to impact the Shore big time. When Paul and Bisogno decided to attend TRN I predicted they be Top 20 team. Well guess what, Manchester will join them, because Destiny Adams is the best 8th grader in New Jersey. She changes the entire landscape in Ocean County. Manchester will be just about unbeatable next season in Ocean. But not to be out done is RBC, who could be sitting on a monster class that could set them up for years. They also could be in line for the best 7th grader in years, to come along a year later. Howell high school will be back in the Top 10 since the Sara Olson and current Wagner asst Katityn Smid days. The Howell freshman class will had 3 impact players.
The Shore Conference I believe will have 8 teams in the Top 20 this week. I also think the Shore is going to dominate the state tournaments. The brackets are setting up nicely right now. Look for Shore teams to make a deep run in every group except, group 1. The bad news is many of the Top Teams will knock each other out before the TOC. SJV, St. Rose ,RFH and Manasquan most likely will see each other in order to advance. Believe it or not MIDDLETOWN SOUTH if they can some how pull it together has a clear path in group 4. It should be interesting.
HERE IS HOW, I SEE THE SEEDING RIGHT NOW, with some big games left to be played. Now this is NOT a ranking.. but rather seeding, so know the difference. Think NCAA SEEDING HERE….
