DAN WERNER… THE MAGIC MAN HAS MIDDLETOWN SOUTH BELIEVING AGAIN
A year go at this time Middletown South’s girls basketball program had hit rock bottom. Things were so bad that the team discussed skipping the Shore Conference Tournament out of fear of losing by a large margin. The players had stop believing and the coaches appeared to no longer care. It was sad times at Middletown South. But then something happened. The coaching staff resigned and Middletown South hired DAN WERNER and now life around South has been like a dream come true.
They say “NOBODY IS COMING TO SAVE YOU”… well don’t tell that to the Middletown girls basketball team. That’s because Dan Werner is not just saving Middletown South he is creating a new culture of winning and commitment. His team is 8-7 and has a win over TOP 10 TOMS RIVER EAST. His team has embraced a winning attitude and it shows. Gone of the days of South not competing and making excuses. Gone are the days of South players quitting when things went bad. Now South players are hungry and believe their time is now. Dan Werner is the biggest reason why the South kids are doing the hard stuff and they’re doing it together.
DAN WERNER knows all about winning and what it takes to win. He spent years on the SJV bench as an assistant coach. He has won everything a coach can win. But it’s what has learned in his years at SJV that has been so valuable. Like convincing Middletown South players to train in the summer, putting them in fall leagues and asking them to attend team workouts. In other words Dan Werner convinced his team to do the hard stuff. Coach Werner was willing to give his time and commitment to them. He brought organization and commitment back to a program that had lost its way. He convinced a bunch a kids that they can have a great year and great program. Right now he and his merry band of soldiers are right on track to do the impossible. Make basketball fun again at South fun again and that starts with winning and caring!
BROOKE MCGREGOR … MADISON LANE… Sam Orlando and AVA LOUCOPOULOS. Have all found a rebirth. A hunger to play. A hunger to win. There is no one star on the team. Kids like Samantha Evans, SUNNIE HANNING and MEGAN MOLLER have all shown up and have brought into into WERNER EFFECT. They are drinking the Kool- Aid and loving every drop. They brought into Coach Werner and now they along with all their teammates are having a successful season. A season nobody expected or thought was possible. A season that means post season opportunities and real growth as a program.
THE MAGIC MAN HAS ARRIVED!
Last year this time of the year, Middletown South was done. They had lost their fight. They no longer believed in the cause or each other. Middletown South in many ways had lost their way. They were looking for a way out. But now they have a man that has indeed come to to save them. Dan Werner played at the highest level of basketball. He knows what it takes. Now he has taught his team about hard work, overcoming adversity and how to believe in one other. DAN WERNER is the magic man right now and his team is doing magical things….
