TRACEY SABINO, has coached some very talented guards over the years. The list of D1 players would take days to list. She has had players attend P4 programs, IVY and PATRIOT LEAGUE programs. They all have something in common. Shoreshots players actually play in college. They become stars and most importantly winners. So when she told me that she has one of the best guards she has ever coached, I ran to watch her team play. What I discovered was shocking because ACADIA WALTERS is not just one of the best guards that Tracey Sabino has coached. But she is one of the best guards in the entire state of New Jersey and has backed it up. THE COLLEGE OF THE HOLY CROSS, just picked up a future rock star!
People love saying how good a player is these days. Social media can create a narrative and a kid can live off that narrative. You know the saying “say it enough and people will believe it” But when you ask for the receipts all you see and hear is double talk. ACADIA WALTERS doesn’t just have the receipts. But she has done it against the best of the best teams and players in all of New Jersey. The numbers don’t lie, she has done it against the SJV’s , PAUL VI’s , the Gloucester Catholic’s, the Lenape’s and the St Rose’s of the world. Name just about any great guard from the across the state and ACADIA WALTERS has paid them a visit. But when you play in South Jersey you don’t get the hype, the attention or the respect that others get. It’s also why ACARDIA WALTERS decided to drive 1 hour and 45 mins, one way 5 days a week. She knew she needed the exposure. The Shoreshots gave her this and she did the rest.
ACADIA WALTERS is a gym rat. She loves the game. She loves being around her peers. She loves to be coached up and she is like a sponge. She demands greatness from herself. Holy Cross is about to find out that ACADIA is a player that will grow everyday. She has the total package. The mid range or long range game. She is the poster child for slippery shiftiness. Her ability to finish at the rim is simply a gift from the heavens. Recently she played pickup vs 12 D1 players from different levels of D1 competition. The question everyone kept asking they day was “WHO IS THAT GIRL?” that’s because by far the best player on the court was ACARDIA WALTERS… FACTS!
I know the Holy Cross head coach very well. She asked me if ACADIA was a good kid. I said “NO” she is the BEST kid. She asked me about her improvement curve, I told her it was magical. She asked if she was a gym rat, I laughed and said those are the only kids I would ever recommend to you. So when Holy Cross asst coach KAT FOGAT saw her the first time. She texted me and wrote three words “WE ARE OFFERING”. The Holy Cross staff have no idea what they are getting. A battle tested player who is ultra competitive. One that will show up everyday and do more each day. One that will squeeze her talent until it begs for mercy. They’ll be no short cuts, skipping workouts taking her foot off the pedal. ACADIA WALTERS, will work hard until the day she walks on campus. She will be prepared and she will have her eyes and ears open… IT’S HER SUPER POWER!
ACADIA WALTERS parents are just what you expect when you meet them. Her mom Victoria is warm and embracing. She is not overbearing or super opinionated. She is just there to support her daughter and more importantly make sure she is happy. When you meet her father Michael, you simply cannot stop talking to him. He is beyond pleasant, he doesn’t talk about or brag about his daughter. He talks about life and the things that brings him and his family joy. I met ACADIA grandfather and to see the beam in his eye talking about ACADIA is the stuff that makes you happy you have a chance to be in her life. The Walters are not a basketball family. There world doesn’t begin or end with basketball. They are just a family that wants to provide an opportunity for their daughter to pursue her dreams. Well now they have done just that … because ACADIA is going to play for the PATRIOT LEAGUE CHAMPS!
ACADIA WALTERS, is a rock star student. She has a 4.3 GPA in all AP classes. That’s because she values her education. It’s the biggest reason why she chose HOLY CROSS. If you don’t know anything about ACADIA WALTERS know this, she does everything the right way. It seems everything she touches turns to gold. It’s taken a minute before that state of New Jersey and college coaches discovered ACARDIA. It’s taken them awhile to realize she is one of the best in the state. She has already scored over 1200 points in her career. Few know her high school team will be a Top 10 team. Here talented Coach, Sal Racobaldo has turned her loose on the state. ACADIA has done so much out of the spotlight but he has brought her into the spotlight. He gave her a platform by playing one of the toughest schedules in the state. He has taught her not to run from anyone and given her that magical confidence all players need. It’s easy to forget how great Acardia truly is on and off the court. But that will be forgiven by the HOLY CROSS faithful because they just picked up an impact player from day one… REMEMBER HER NUMBERS VS LEVEL OF COMPETITION she is all there for all to see and the video don’t lie!!! ACADIA WALTERS has given them all the business at one time or another.
HOLY CROSS has a good one on the way. They have a good family on the way. But more importantly they have a GREAT PERSON AND FAMILY ON THE WAY. She is a real hooper… CONGRATULATIONS TO ACADIA WALTERS
