MID SEASON AWARD WINNERS…
It’s time for this years Mid Season Award winners. Like every year there is no guarantee that the season ending awards will look like this. In fact history says they will not. The SCT carries so much more weight than regular season. You must understand I do not care about stats. I care about a players impact first and foremost. I also watch tape throughout the season. There is always a difference of opinion when it comes to these type awards. The biggest problem is that many of the players, play different levels of competition, so their stats and accomplishments are often overlooked or exaggerated. I am here to tell you, who you do it against matters to me in a big way. If you want to move a player around or out to add someone else. Please do so because this is the hardest Mid Season Award, I have had in YEARS. There were only two awards that I’m not budging on and that would be Most Improved Player and Freshman of the Year. These two mid season awards winners are a virtual lock right now. It will take something special to catch them….finally the video don’t lie folks.
PLAYER OF THE YEAR-
MADISON ST. ROSE- ST. JOHN VIANNEY- SOPHOMORE
Right now she is as good as it gets. She has been spectacular in the first half of the season in helping lead SJV to a National Ranking and the #1 ranked team in New Jersey. No player on a top ranked team, has had a bigger impact on their team to date
FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
CASEY PRIOR- RED BANK CATHOLIC- RED BANK CATHOLIC- GUARD
There is only two words to describe her season to date, breathtaking. She has been everything Joe Montano has hoped for and more. Her play in big games has been off the charts. She also has hit too many big shots to count this year. Now throw in her elite defense, shot selection and IQ and it’s a blowout right now
COACH OF THE YEAR
DAVE CALLAHAN- RUMSON FAIR HAVEN
The job he has done this year is shocking. No Grace Munt, Chase Boyle and Kayla Scarpa and somehow he has RFH ranked #11 in the state and #4 in the Shore Conference. He has been masterful all season. Nobody saw this coming.
MOST IMPROVED PLAYER
BROOKE HOLLAWELL- MANASQUAN HIGH SCHOOL- SOPHOMORE
She has been lighting in a bottle. Her impact this season has been electric. She has been the leading scorer this season for Manasquan. She has first 174 points this season after scoring just 80 points last season. She was first Team All WOBM. She has run away with this Award with her outstanding play.
UP AND COMING PLAYER
CORTLAND McBARRON- RUMSON FAIR HAVEN- JUNIOR
She has become a major force in the Shore Conference and right now one of the best players in the Conference. She is not just a shooter but also a top rebounder and underrated ball handler. She will be a full blown star before season ends.
COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR
FAB EGGENSCHWILER- RED BANK CATHOLIC
She has been flat out sensational this year after a what many considered a subpar season last year. Eggenschwiler in many people eyes has been the biggest reason for RBC major step forward. Her leadership and play on the floor certainly has earned her this year’s mid season award. She right now is clearly somewhere on the ALL SHORE LINEUP
