We can talk about all the great players who have walked through the doors of RBC, there has best many. But none ever quite like ADDY NYEMCHEK. There have been many great players in New Jersey girls basketball. But none like ADDY NYEMCHEK. What separates Addy Nyemchek from every player I have ever known is her character. Her patience and understanding. Her ability to stand tall with grace when chaos surrounded her, when jealousy surrounded her. She knows how to share the spotlight with teammates, friends and family. She carries the weight without complaining. She never wants or expects special treatment. She choose a college this week, it was not really a big surprise if you know ADDY. It was INDIANA UNIVERSITY THAT GOT A COMMITMENT FROM THE BEST PLAYER IN NEW JERSEY.

The great ones are not just great players. They are great people as well. The great ones make their teammates better. The great ones want to be coached, they always want truth. It why they practice with so much pride. ADDY NYEMCHEK, never acts like a star. She is not a prima donna. She wants to treated like everyone else, when we all know she is so different from everyone else. She is the Larry Bird of girls basketball. She plays the game, the way coaches dream all kids would play the game. She plays a game most are not familiar with. Her weakness you ask? No wanting credit or attention. Addy Nyemchek’s #1 goal is to win and win with her teammates. See Addy’s teammates at times want credit, can get jealous forget where their bread is buttered. This is true at all levels of basketball, even on great teams. But see “the bad woman” understands this and gives her teammates a pass. She understands everyone wants their moment in the spotlight. See when your ego is in check, you willing to share and forgive. I know of NO player in all my years with the status of ADDY NYEMCHEK who is more humble and appreciative of all her that has come her way.

It’s beyond silly to compare any player in the past 3 years to Addy Nyemchek. It’s like comparing pee wee Herman to Arnold Schwarzenegger. When you consider the way Addy can dominate a game it mind blowing. Like picking the pocket of a player late in the game to help win a SCT CHIP. Making a game winning passs to win a Chip, like making a impossible game winning shot to WIN A CHIP… All in a 10 day span. See Addy has done it all. She has won a SCT CHIP, A STATE CHIP, FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR , PLAYER OF THE YEAR, DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR. We have not seen a player like Addy Nyemchek in years. What makes it all so impressive is she had done it all without begging for hype, stats and selfishness play. She has done it all by being the ultimate teammate and person.

Indiana University is going to find out, that Addy Nyemchek is the rare star. That player who will set the tone for the team. There staff will realize Addy wants to be coached hard. She wants to do the extra, she’ll play with pain and give her heart and soul to the team. Why? Because she never wants to let her teammates down. That may mean a block shot vs EWING HS to save a game. A three point play vs St Rose in the state semi final. It doesn’t matter, it’s been that way her entire career. You may think she does these things for her status. That’s because you don’t know her. She does it for her teammates. She does it because it about winning, nothing more and nothing less. See ADDY NYEMCHEK has the looks like a supermodel. She is drop dead gorgeous and doesn’t know it. But if the truth be told she has a supermodel game. A game that comes around once every 20 years. She is on the Mount Rushmore of girls basketball in the best conference in America. That’s not by mistake, it’s because her work with has Been dynamic over the years.

Call her what you want. “ The Bad Woman” .. “Slim reaper”… “Slim Jesus”… it doesn’t matter just don’t remember to call her the GOAT. Thats because she is the best player to ever wear a RBC uniform. She is the best passer I have ever seen PERIOD!… she is the best defender in the country. I said the country. But what everyone misses is that ADDY NYEMCHEK, never takes a play off. Never get upset when her teammates miss her at times. Never seems to ever believe she is giving enough. It’s what makes her greatness so much of a joy to watch. Have you ever seen her, show up a teammate, coach or opponent? Of course not because Addy has a little something called class. Everything she does is classy. Maybe her nickname should be the classy one. When she had a vicious collision with Taylor s SOFILKANICH in the biggest game of the year. She refused to go to the doctor and stayed to support her teammates… CLASSY. When it was time to pick a school, she cried having to tell other schools the bad news.. CLASSY… when her senior teammates CHRISTINA LIGGIO AND TESSA CARMAN were closing in on 1000 points. She said this to me… “I hope they get 1000 points before me… CLASSY. People Addy Nyemchek, is just different from most kids.

Brian Nyemchek played D1 basketball at Monmouth University. I tried to recruit him out of high school. Heidi Nyemchek played soccer for Monmouth. They have been their daughter’s biggest supporters . Addy 2 older sisters love their younger sister . There so proud of her, LOGAN the middle sister played college basketball as well. Brian and Heidi have pushed Addy out of her comfort zone. They taught her it’s okay to be special. They let her know she had a gift. A special gift and to go show the world. I remember when Brian told me he was going to move ADDY to the Philly RISE. I told him to wait a year. But he wanted Addy to play against the best. He believed in his daughter and that’s why we are here today. Heidi doesn’t show it, but she is very competitive. Yet more mother above all. She knows when Addy is happy, she has motherly instincts. The type that keeps a kid on track who refuses to to take days off. The type that knows her daughter is never satisfied. The type that knows a daughter who doesn’t want to be on the spotlight. Hedi has navigated all of this for her daughter.. without her parents, Addy would be good, but she would be the GOAT.

So many positive people have been in ADDY’s life. Larry Smith her trainer was been more than a trainer. He is a friend and advocate. Kevin Lynch of the PHILLY RISE saw her greatness early before everyone else, he screamed her name to the mountain top. It was he that made her name a household name, when nobody knew who she was. But then their was Joe Montano here high school coach who guided Addy and her family every step of the way. Coach Montano has been to this rodeo a million times. It was he who made this a clean smooth process. Addy Nyemchek had the right inner circle and it’s why she made the perfect choice.

TRUTH BE TOLD, I was hoping Addy would attend Indiana. Truth be told I think her parents wanted her to attend Indiana. Truth be told, I believe everyone who loves Addy wanted her to attend Indiana. That’s because Indiana is built for her. They have kids like her, they have kids who play like her, look like her, think like her AND THERE GOOD. You see Addy will have an impact from day one. She’ll play with unselfish kids like herself. The goal will be a final four. Not personal achievements, the name in the front of the jersey will mean more than the name in the back. There will be 10,000 people at every game come rain or shine. Indiana sounds awful lot like RED BANK CATHOLIC.

There have been very few kids like ADDY NYEMCHEK. I think when a kid has had the pressure and expectations she has, it not to show real grace under fire but she has made it look real easy. I know she doesn’t care or want to talk about the McDonald all American game. Truth be told that comes down to politics. I believe she deserves this honor. Addy and her parents are not good at that game. What they are good at is making decisions… THAT’S WHY INDIANA UNIVERSITY WAS ANOTHER GREAT DECISION… CONGRATULATIONS TO ADDY NYEMCHEK AND HER FAMILY.
