SJV DOWNS RBC IN ROUND #2

Last night it was Round 2 in the battle of super powers RBC and SJV. In round one RBC knocked SJV around and showed them who was boss. But last last SJV send RBC a message. That message was don’t start ordering ring the rings yet. SJC went on the road and knocked the mighty Casey’s off. They led by as many as 18 points and never surrendered the lead, while Addy Nymchek though haymaker after haymaker at them. SJV showed that they can handle the heat and give some of their own. Their two stars showed up and youngster chipped in to close the door on RBC.

MADISON KOCIS, last night was on a mission. She did it all. She buried big three’s, got to the basket for tough finishes. She got on the offensive boards. Got out in transition. Drop dimes like the biggest snitch in the state. Madison Kocis was magical last night in scoring her career high 27 points. It was she that made big shot after big shot anytime RBC showed any sign of life. It was she that sent a message to the entire state. THE PLAYER OF THE YEAR has a new contender.

GIANNA SANO, missed all last season as a freshman. She lost valuable experience. In the first matchup with RBC she showed that inexperience at times. But SANO is a fast learner and has grown up quickly. Last night she was nothing short of spectacular on the biggest stage of all. She buried big shots all night. She did it from the tree point line or by getting to the rim. She played liked a seasoned veteran. She was cool under pressure and played the role of a great conductor. Last night night Gianna Sano arrived. Last night she showed why she is one of the best young guards in the state. Last night GIANNA SANO proved she is ready for the big show!

Last night’s game was decided in the 3rd quarter. It was decided when Stellar Lockhart who was quiet in the first half exploded. RBC had no answer for the Georgetown recruit. She went on shooting spree and took no prisoners. It included three’s, drives to the rim and dynamic finishing at the rim. She had 10 points in the first 3 minutes of the quarter to give SJV that breathing room they needed. Stella Lockhart had a little thing called timing last night. She knew when to take over that game. She was a force a dominant player who’s presence was overwhelming.

THE SJV ROLE players if you lock in the box score may seem to have been ghost. That’s why you never go by a box score. Charlotte. Bradley had 5 points but they were big points. Tatum Sharpe hounded Addy Nymchek and tired to wear her down. The SJV role player did their jobs. They didn’t try to be stars. They simple played there roles in all star fashion.

RBC

RBC the past two weeks have not been at their best. In fact you can say they struggled. St. Rose and Glouschester were messages that RBC IGNORED. It was a red flag. But what really got them in trouble last night is the thing that they hang their hat on most, DEFENSE . Well last night that defense finally let them down last night and they paid the price. RBC’s defense has won games for them when they struggled. Last night their defense was on vacation. RBC forgot the titles are earned and not won on paper. They forgot they are every opponents Super Bowl. Yesterday was a wake up call.

SJV when the next rankings come out will be #1 in the state. Not because they beat RBC last night. Remember the teams have split and the truth of the matter is RBC’s resume is much better. No SJV will be #1 because are surging as a team. They are getting better each week. They are a team that is focused. They celebrated last night in a way they haven’t in a long time last night. The SJV players hugged each other and jumped for joy. They celebrated like a team, that had suffered enough. Like a team that is on a mission. It’s just one game but it meant so much to so many. SJV snapped a four game losing streak vs RBC. Now they know they can beat RBC. Now they know a SCT CHIP is real and not just talk. Now they know they are the best team in New Jersey not because of a ranking. But rather because they are the BEST TEAM
