JAX EDELMAN SCOUTING REPORT

JAX EDELMAN- MORRIS CATHOLIC- 6’2″ – WING

She carried a gigantic burden at MORRIS CATHOLIC last season in having to replace the Pauldo Twins, not just in terms of stats but leadership and big shot making ability as well. That said, she displayed incredible maturity in leading Morris Catholic back to a 3rd straight State Championship game. The way she balanced being aggressive on offense, feeding teammates and limiting mistakes and waste in her game was magical to say the least. Her assist-to-turnover ratio has to be among the best in the state, not because she played a conservative style, she simply was a player who refused to sabotage herself with bad decisions or instincts. She is highly well coached up. YOU ARE MAKING A MASSIVE MISTAKE CREATING A OPINION BASED ON HER AAU ENVIRONMENT, video is your best friend in the case. Start with her performance against #5 nationally ranked RBC and their 9 D1 players.

This is a really gifted high IQ player, who often knows where the ball needs to go before she even catches it. Doesn’t have to stare his target down to perfectly place the ball in hands of a teammate. Relentless early up passer who is a nightmare for opponents when trailing for three’s. Seemed to really relish the bigger games, as her best performances seem to always be in big games. Her on court demeanor is exactly what coaches are looking for these days. A highly competitive nature without the antics.

Built like classic P4 wing, think Justine Pissott of Indy Fever. Broad shoulders with long arms and legs. She seems to never be out of position or off balance. Physical play does not disrupt her flow or concentration. She has reached the “absolutely cannot leave her” status as a catch-and-shoot player, she 100% must be game planned. Also has that rare ability for great shooters with size to create looks from 3 for himself but uses great judgement about taking them when they were available without greedily hunting them. Not necessarily a high-movement shooter but can quickly get up shots out of simple flare screens or pindowns.

Playing a national schedule she had 73 made threes, despite box and ones, face guarding, double teams, being grabbed and held, while also being game played. She had over 450 points and 150 rebounds as her 71 assists goes almost unnoticed. She is a true gym, meaning if there is game somewhere… she wants in! She is very comfortable in a urban setting (yeah meaning Black) or Suburban atmosphere (meaning white). That’s because she has a competitive nature that is flexible like her game.

Edelman bring a lot of tools to the table. If you missed her during her high school season. You may say high major plus star… but I have seen her the past 5 years and the growth has been sensational….
