There is nothing more exciting than finding out about a player who is talented, gifted and blessed with a tremendous work ethic—a player you simply didn’t know enough about.
GEORGIA D’ANGELO of St. Rose may be the poster child for exactly that kind of player.
The Point Boro transfer and rising junior has my full attention. And college coaches would be wise to get her attention as well.
Because GEORGIA D’ANGELO is going places.
The first time Georgia showed up for after-school shooting, she immediately caught my attention. Her work ethic was impressive. Her athleticism stood out. She was light and bouncy on her feet.
But then there was that jumper.
THAT QUICK RELEASE.
Georgia gets her shot off so quickly that it can only be described as next-level stuff. Watching her work was almost like watching a machine. Catch it. Rise. Release. BANG.
Then do it again.
And again.
It didn’t matter whether she was shooting off the catch, creating off the dribble or coming off a screen. Georgia showed she has the entire package.
She is a LEVEL SCORER.
The kind of scorer you run sets for.
And maybe what impressed me even more was her motor.
GEORGIA D’ANGELO IS THE ENERGIZER BUNNY.
She keeps moving. She keeps working. She keeps attacking. She just seems to have another gear, and she never appears to get tired.
I have a funny feeling we are going to see something special at St. Rose this year.
SHE DIDN’T COME OUT OF NOWHERE
In a lot of ways, Georgia really isn’t a surprise.
She didn’t come from nowhere.
You see, Georgia is like a lot of kids who have been doing their thing in the shadows, waiting for someone to finally notice.
She spent the last two years at Point Boro making a name for herself in an environment where exposure and attention can sometimes be difficult to find.
And last season?
280 points.
113 rebounds.
69 assists.
50 steals.
As a SOPHOMORE.
Folks, those aren’t numbers to sneeze at.
There are very few sophomores in the Shore who can put together numbers like that.
The difference is Georgia has been doing it quietly.
No big headlines.
No constant attention.
Just playing basketball.
And now she is walking into a new environment at St. Rose with an opportunity to introduce herself to an entirely different audience.
THE PHD
Georgia is quick. She has a handle with some pop to it. She can score in different ways. And she has the athletic ability to make things happen.
That’s why I told Georgia to sign up for NBS.
Why?
Because I have a feeling this kid has a PHD.
PASSIONATE.
HUNGRY.
DRIVEN.
That’s the kind of player coaches love.
But there is something else I like about Georgia.
She smiles.
I like a kid who smiles.
I like a kid who encourages teammates.
I like a kid who gets along with her peers.
I love kids who communicate.
Georgia has those qualities.
And yes, she DOES THE WINNING SHIT.
There is no ego.
No selfishness.
Just a kid who clearly loves basketball.
A kid who loves being in the gym.
A kid who seems genuinely excited about getting better.
NOW COMES THE SPOTLIGHT
Georgia D’Angelo may be unknown to some people right now. She played for the talented NJ RISE. A team with real talent but lacked exposure.
But trust me—moving to St. Rose is going to change that.
She is going to have a chance to play on a bigger stage, against better competition, with more eyes watching.
And when those eyes start watching, they are going to see what I have already seen.
The tape tells a story.
It tells the story of a player who has been quietly building her game.
It tells the story of a player with a quick release, a strong motor, athletic ability, a handle, scoring ability and, perhaps most importantly, a genuine love for the game.
But most of all, the tape tells the story of a player who is ready.
Ready to introduce herself to St. Rose fans.
Ready to introduce herself to the Shore Conference.
Ready to introduce herself to college coaches.
And ready to introduce herself to everyone who loves discovering something special before everyone else does.
