NOELLE GRADY AND MORAVIAN UNIVERSITY…A PERFECT MATCH

There are some recruiting stories that are about stars. This one is about something bigger. This one is about Noelle Grady. Yesterday , Noelle closed the book on her high school basketball recruiting journey by committing to Moravian University. And I have a funny feeling that years from now, she will look back at this day and realize something: She found exactly where she was supposed to be. Because the right school isn’t always the biggest school. It isn’t always the school with the most attention. And it certainly isn’t always the school that recruits the loudest.

Sometimes, the right school is the place that answers the questions that really matter.

Will I get a valuable educated?
Will I have an opportunity?
Will I be allowed to shine?
Will I be surrounded by people who will help me grow?
Will I be happy?

For Noelle, Moravian feels like the answer. And maybe that’s because Noelle’s story has never been about being handed anything. She wasn’t crowned a future star when she was young. She didn’t have everyone telling the basketball world how special she was. She didn’t have the massive hype machine behind her. She didn’t have people constantly promoting her. She just played. She played because she loved basketball. She played because she loved being part of a team. She played because she loved her teammates. And somewhere along the way, something happened that you can’t manufacture, buy or promote. People fell in love with Noelle Grady.

Ask around New Jersey. People know her. People like her. People respect her. And most importantly… People root for her. That’s what makes this story so special.

Noelle didn’t become one of the most well-liked kids in New Jersey because someone told everyone to like her. She earned it. Through the way she treated people. Through the way she competed. Through the way she supported her teammates. And while other players were busy worrying about what everyone thought they were supposed to be, Noelle quietly figured out who she was. She found her lane. Then she grew in it. And she kept getting better.

Noelle found her game along the way chasing her dream. She went from an JV player to an impact player. Joe Gaba trusted her and she delivered for him and Chatham, when everyone said the program was dead. She found John Giff and the NJ PANTHERS, they wanted and believed in her. They allowed her to shine and have a great AAU experience. She discovered Doug Shaw and he gave the confidence that raised her game. But above all it was her father PAT GRADY who taught her to love the game. Showed her the importance of balance in being a student, athlete and winning person. Pat Grady did something many parents are afraid to do… TRUST HIS DAUGHTER. And now she has found her home.

New Moravian Head Coach Olivia Woolam
gets a player who will compete. Be a great a teammate. She gets someone who will make the people around her better. But more than anything, they get Noelle Grady. And that’s a pretty good get. Coach Woolam’s first recruiting class couldn’t have started much better Today isn’t just about where Noelle is going. It’s about a young lady who didn’t need to be crowned to make her dream come true.

We need to celebrate kids like Noelle Grady. Because she is the kid everyone roots for and when they finally found a home, it makes everyone realize good people and good kids can win in the end. Moravian someday, they may look back and realize they didn’t just sign a basketball player. They signed a person people believe in. And there is nothing more powerful than that. Congratulations, Noelle much deserved!
