TATUM SHARPE it seems has made big decisions her entire life. Her decision as to where to play in high school and now her decision to where to attend college. Lafayette College has not just landed a winner both on and off the floor. They have added to their roster a player that is built for new coach Ben O’Brien’s fast pace pressing style. But more than anything else Lafayette is getting what one day, just may be the best two way player in the PATRIOT LEAGUE.

SJV players are different, you know few or any that didn’t excel in college or not win. They are players that are prepared from day one. They are players that have seen, beaten and played the best. Coach Dawn Karpell has built the Roman Empire at SJV. Her teams play for CHIPS and NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. The Mickey D All American coach has mastered the art of developing talent. Her players over the years have dominated the Patriot League. It’s hard to find a team that has won the conference chip without a SJV player on their roster in recent years. Tatum Sharpe is just the latest, Lafayette now has a player that will elevate, their practices and be an example of what a competitive nature truly looks like daily. They also have a player that will not run, be selfish or play for the name on the back but rather for the name on the front. Yes Tatum Sharpe does all “THE WINNING SHIT”

Tatum Sharpe has been a role player at SJV over her career. It’s long tradition that goes back years at SJV. Some of the best players in school history have had to wait their turn. They come into SJV as talented babies and leave as grown women. They come with a reputation and learn how to sacrifice. They learn to play to win not to win meaningless trophies. They are many over the years who believed Tatum Sharpe should have transferred back to her hometown school. Be a star, put up stats and win awards. These days those kids are getting their stats and awards. But they have not won the most important awards. A schlorship to a D1 high academic school, they have not won chips and be part of something bigger than themselves. They year Tatum Sharpe will play the role of team star. She doesn’t need the title of captain or star player. She would be that regardless of being crowned or not. You see Tatum Sharpe has been though the fire, she knows what it’s like to play every role a player can play on a great team. She knows MAKING IT, is not easy but these days she is MAKING IT AND MAKING IT BIG!

PLEASE, don’t ever underestimate the power and importance of of family. Tatum Sharpe’s parents are the real heroes in this journey she has been on. Her father Brendan is a gentleman, he doesn’t live though his daughter as so many do these days. He has taught her about patience and loyalty. It’s why she stayed at SJV vs chasing, hype, awards and attention. He showed her you can have real success being part of something bigger than yourself. He really believes their is enough light for everyone to shine. He knew Tatums dreams would come true. Her mother Cara is her rock, her angel. She is the one in the backgrown always there with the right words and encouragement. She gave her the love and support when she suffered injuries or questioned her journey. Tatum sister Hailey plays soccer at Washington College. It’s a school for rock star students. But Hailey tore her ACL and Tatum watched her career be shorted. But she learned to support her sister, she learned how to overcome injures. Her sister was exactly the role model needed when Tatum was injured. She learned from her big sister there’s always a way back. Tatum parents taught her to be supportive of others as Tatum visited her sister often in college. Her brother Brother Patrick plays D1 golf at Monmouth U and he taught her the road to a dream is not easy. You see the Sharpe family gets it. They don’t believe in drama, they prefer to be seen not heard. They prefer to talk less and do more. They support, educate and never eliminate by quitting or making excuses. Tatum Sharpe is blessed. She is blessed because she has something way bigger than our game, bigger than D1 basketball, bigger that a scholarship… TATUM SHARPE HAS BEEN LOVED DEEPLY. No player can make it these days without a winning INNER CIRCLE. Dawn Karpell has been the perfect coach for Tatum Sharpe. She has not just allowed her to grow as a player. But she gave her a enviorment that she could thrive in as person as well as a basketball player. She has taught Tatum it’s not just about winning games but it’s about relationships and friendships. Tatum Sharpe cannot think of life without SJV. Coach Zoe Pero has been her biggest cheerleader over the years. The one that constantly said, “Tatum Sharpe is going to be a star”. The United Organization gave Tatum a home, they brought her into the spotlight. They let coaches know that Tatum Sharpe was special. Jimmy O and her current asst Coach at Lafayette, Joe Gaba gave Tatum a platform which to shine on. She will never forget their support. Her trainer ERIC MYRICK, took her game to another level. Made her believe she could and was special. It was he who unlocked her greatness. Tatum Sharpe make a wise decision as she always does in picking her INNER CIRCLE. She choose people who believed in her dream… and now it’s time for them all to celebrate because TATUM SHARPE IS MAKING IT!

When Lafayette fans see Tatum Sharpe on defense they will be shocked. They will be shocked at the energy she will bring to the court. They will be surprised when she throws the best offense players in the conference in jail with no way to escape. They will be surprised that she is a way better shooter than anyone realizes. Coach Ben O’Brien. is going to realize he may have the best defender in the league as a freshman. Tatum Sharpe will put pressure on everyone to step up there game. She will practice everyday like it’s the last game of her life. You see Lafayette is getting a dream player. One who will never quit and give them her heart and soul.

In recent years the best players at Lafayette College have been from the Shore Conference. The problem is they were never surrounded by a supporting cast that could get them over the top. Well Tatum Sharpe is walking into a team with lots of weapons. A team on the rise. A team that will be a Top Team in the league. A team that can beat anyone on any given night. This is no rebuilding job she is walking into. Tatum Sharpe just may be the player that can get Lafayette over the top. She is a player , that few are used to seeing in the Patriot league. She is the true definition of a Swiss knife. She can do a lot of everything better than most could dream about doing.
