FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

WEEKLY THOUGHTS….

There is a lot taking place as we get closer to the SCT and STATE TOURNAMENT. Some teams are surging, some are standing still, some are going backwards and some are disappointing. There are players who have been sensational and surprised us and coaches whose teams have already stepped up. The 2025-36 season has been a fun ride.

I Know the 2026 PLAYER OF YEAR is wrap. Addy Nymchek has destroyed every thing in her path this year. More importantly she has got it done against the best teams in the state. The next stop for her is the Mickey D ALL AMERICAN GAME

ERIN REID has not just been great statistically. She has 12 double doubles on the year. But it’s what she has done for her teammates that is most impressive. She has elevated every teammates game. She has had a dream season. Did anyone predict she be 1st Team All Shore? Because right now that exactly what it’s looking like!

Any one paying attention to freshman SYDNEY TILTON of SHORE REG? The freshman is tearing it up. She already has 300 points and 100 rebounds this season. She has to be in the FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR CONVERSATION. She has been dynamic.

KYLEE BEAN has been everything and more for Howell this year. The junior has checked every box in leading Howell to a great season to date. But it’s been her side kick BELLAROSE MARINO that has helped Howell get over the hump. Bella is having an All Shore type season. While she gone unappreciated, her teammates and coaches know her true value.

MADISON KOCIS performance vs RBC in SJV’s win reminded everyone of her performance 4 years ago against RBC in the Shore Finals. But her performance last week was super human.

GIANNA SANO showed everyone thst she is the next great guard in the Shore. She was unshakable and outstanding on the biggest stage in New Jersey basketball. Gianna better get a good pair of sunglasses because her future is bright

SJV is surging as a group. RBC is trying to get healthy. Round three if wee get one should be exciting. SJV now knows they can play with RBC. They have vowed never to lose to RBC again this season.

RFH has been the story of the season so far. Nobody saw all this coming. They seem to get better every week. Dave Callahan has done an amazing job this year. In fact you be hard pressed to find a better coaching job in recent years by anyone.

The bottom has fallen out for RBR as they have lost 8 straight games. They are stacked with seniors. But their competitive nature has always been an issue and now it has showed up in a big way. There is always hope and who knows.

It seems TRINITY, COLTS NECK and NEPTUNE are running in the mud. All are having respectful seasons. But none has one marquee win. They are all struggling against next level competition. The have 2 weeks to change all that.

MANASQUAN just keeps rolling along. They should be called the steady Eddie group. No drama, they just show up and play hard. Lisa Kukoda has done it again. There ranked in the state Top 10 and look like the Group 2 state favorite

ST. ROSE has been up and down. They have a culture issue; it’s that plan and simple. They are a hot mess! They’ve had a few kids leave and that should help. We call that addition by subtraction. Their AD QUIT and they have parents being parents. Kids who didn’t put the RIGHT WORK in but want minutes despite their performance. BELLE AVARDO and BROOKE MISRRY have wining parents and winning history’s if anyone can put this back together it’s them

TOMS RIVER EAST and SOUTH could surprise everyone. SOUTHERN has been knocking on the door. As long as ARI WISSEN is around Brick TWP has a fighters chance each night. Ocean county looks like it’s getting better

How about what Dan Werner is doing at MIDDLETOWN SOUTH. His crew has brought into his play hard work hard attitude. His team is competitive and playing hungry. We have not seen this in the Middletown South program in years. Major props to Dan Werner. They are 7-7 and 3-3 in league and knocked off Top 10 TOMS River East
