EMORY AND WHITNEY HOBSON ARE READY TO SHINE TOGETHER!

WHITNEY HOBSON, has been fighting for respect it see seems her entire career. She has had to prove herself it seems over and over. It’s the reason she has a chip on her shoulder. She has to wonder what she has to do to convince people of her value and her talent. It’s the reason she has always seem to be playing against the best or with the best. Whitney Hobson has always known, she belongs with the best. It’s why she gave EMORY UNIVERSITY of the UAA Conference.

MISHA JACKSON and me are tight. She has recruited too many players from my program to mention. She. comes to my events out of support. She has been rewarded. Right now she has 5 kids from NBS on her roster. Our relationship is a trusting and honest one. So when she called me about WHITNEY HOBSON, she asked me if Whitney was a hard worker, was she coachable and did I think she could play at EMORY . All I said was “Mia, take her, she’ll get better every year “. I told her this because it’s the truth. Whitney Hobson has gotten better every year, while at TRINITY HALL. That’s because while TRINITY is not known for gym rats. It did not stop her from becoming a gym rat. It’s impossible to question WHITNEY’s commitment and desire. She has a passion for the game. That’s why as a freshman she played major mins. Then last year had to fill the shoes of Nina Emnace the graduating PLAYER OF THE YEAR in the Shore. She not only got the job done. She led TRINITY HALL to the SCT semi final. The only problem was Whitney Hobson got little if any credit. It’s been that way for Whitney it seems every step of the way. She just keeps proving people wrong and they keep ignoring her impact. Trinity would be nowhere without WHITNEY HOBSON. She is the backbone of the program.

When you talk about a true Swiss Knife, Whitney Hobson is one of the rare ones. That’s because guards are rarely called a Swiss knife. But Whitney Hobson is that player. She can be a pure point guard, a scoring point guard. A coach on the floor or a ball dominant scorer. She can defend almost any type player. She is both big and strong and has a competitive nature you can’t put into words. In other words Whitney Hobson, is one of the best guards in the Shore and nobody seems to want to acknowledge it. Maybe it’s because Whitney Hobson just handles her business. No flash and dash. Just old school basketball, no highlights just real production.

THE UAA conference is one of the three best academic conferences in the country. It is D3 in name only. Many players on the rosters turned down D1 offers to attend UAA schools. You cannot compete in the conference if you don’t have D1 talent. It’s a conference where everything is done in a big way. They have first class facilities. The games are packed with loyal fan bases. They fly first class to the biggest cities. Like NYC, Atlanta , Chicago. But more importantly winning the league chip is like winning a National Championship because it’s hard as in real hard. Emory has been trying to get over the hump. They’ve been close but they want that chip. They need impact players these days. Whitney Hobson just may be one of the players. She has played against the best. Been in those big games. She knows what pressure feels like and loves the challenge. Make no mistake Whitney Hobson will be ready, when the time comes.

Elizabeth Hobson and James Hobson are parents who kid their kids an opportunity. They support Whitney and encourage Whitney. They believe if a kid wants to do something, they will support them. But they expect that kid to give their best effort. They don’t believe in short cuts. When Whitney wanted to prepare to play point guard. They allowed her to switch AAU teams. It meant driving 45 mins to United practices. But they made that sacrifice for WHITNEY. They have made every sacrifice a parent can make. They understand what disappointment looks like. They know the heartache of knowing a daughter is not getting the credit they deserve. They have seen the hard work Whitney has put in along the way. They know Whitney’s journey has been no bowl of cherries. But somehow they keep Whitney marching forward and now WHITNEY’S HARD WORK HAS PAID OFF!

EMORY, is one of the best educations in the county. It’s a place where future leaders are born. It’s a place where kids have a true student athlete experience. Whitney is a classic student athlete. Someone who takes real pride in her education. Truth be told WHITNEY HOBSON takes pride in everything she does. It’s why she is going to be very successful at one of the best programs in America….EMORY. Congratulations to WHITNEY HOBSON. Nobody has ever worked so hard and received so little in return.
