This weekend was one of the most interesting weekends to date this fall. There seemed to be so much going on. You could feel the energy and the excitement of the season building. There is no question in my mind that we are in for an exciting upcoming season. There is so much to talk about that I really don’t know where to start.
The NO BOYZ ALLOWED high school league was the cream of crop once again in terms of fall basketball. The ALL STAR games were this week. There were 4 teams chosen in the High School division after a draft. It gave lots of kids a chance to get one more competitive game in this fall. RBC’s Tessa Carman was MVP in one all star game and Hannah Hidalgo was MVP in the other. It sounds like it was a great day. But as a side note, let’s hope they play the All Star game earlier next year. The event is maybe just a little to close to the start of the season.
The 7th and 8th grade All Star game was stacked with talent from across the state. The Shore was well represented in both games and once again CC and NO BOYZ ALLOWED delivered in a big way for everyone.
The Boot Camp took place this weekend and players got a chance to get up shots all weekend. I always love this event. Because it really shows you what kids are willing to go the extra mile in order to separate themselves. BRAVO TO THOSE 48 kids who did more. Once again coaches why I am always right because I know whose working💪
There has never been a season in recent years with so many D1 players injured. But Georgia Heine returned to NBS and immediately reminded everyone why she is special. HEINE who is impossible to keep out of the gym looked like she never missed a beat. U PENN has no idea what they are getting
Trinity Hall’s Nina Emance returned as well this week to NBS. Last year’s FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR. Looks like this years All Shore guard. Emance folks is just special. Her quickness and explosiveness is just different.
I always say the hardest thing for kids to do is to show up. Injuries, family responsibility and school often act as road blocks. But there are some kids who just seem to find a way. Abby Ferguson actually drove back from her official visit on Sunday evening to attend Boot Camp. It’s pretty amazing how lucky Colgate is folks
RBR’s John Truhan has it again at another Public School. He hung up another banner!
Coaches need to stop crying about what other schools are doing and build there programs. Coach John Truhan aka “the Bill Parcels” of high school basketball has done it again.
STEVENS TECH, Jess Broad was MVP of the Kean University Tip off Tournament. Steven’s knocked off the home team who was led by former Barnegat star Shannon McCoy with 14 points. McCoy is in hot pursuit of the schools All Time scoring record.
How about Lola Mullaney dropping 17 on the road at U Mass for Harvard. I think it’s safe to say she going to have a great year.
Camryn Foltz is out possibly for the year at Dartmouth because of a knee injury. Sophia Sabino at Fordham is red shirting this year.
Well Monmouth University showed the Shore community that a new day has arrived. That’s because they beat Navy with a ton of future Shore studs in the stands watching. The atmosphere was electric and it appears Ginny Boggess has the magic touch.
Molly Kelly- 2023- RBC– the gym rat and make no mistake a total big time gym rat. Just may make RBC forget Sophia Sabino
Julia Cosentino-2023- RFH- coaches she is an elite as in elite bucket getter. Future double figure D1 scorer
Isabella Asencio-2023-IMACULATE– the best guard at NBS and the best pure point in the 2023 class in the state of NJ… PERIOD!
JOSIE MUNSON- 2023- this kid is simply becoming one of the biggest problems around this fall at NBS… D1 talent and athletic skills.
CAMRYN GARDNER-2024- RBR- yes, I know she has D1 offers already . But you have to understand, she looks like a high major these days.
- SJV- nothing changes.. minor concern is a few injuries
- MANASQUAN- Heine looks just fine
- RBC- This crew is starting to look dangerous
- Holmdel- The talent is there. Now can they put it together? They have to get to the gym next 2 weeks.
- RBR- Polloway missed the entire fall. But it’s JT folks, he’ll get her ready.
- TRN- Can coach Gillen get them to get over the hump?
- Donovan Catholic- Decker is legit. Now the question is, who is else is preparing?
- MANCHESTER- I wouldn’t count them out in Ocean.
- TRINITY HALL- Emance and Stapleton are on a mission
- MARLBORO- The schedule looks like a SJV schedule.. Desimone is back and Slofkiss is on a mission
*no Transfers or Freshman*
