TESSA CARMAN AND MONMOUTH FLY TOGETHER!

Last weekend TESSA CARMAN said these words. “I connect with her and I trust her”. She was speaking of Monmouth University Head Coach Cait Wetmore. More than anything else this is why she gave MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY A VERBAL COMMITMENT.
Tessa Carman has a had a front seat in watching the recruiting process. She watched both her sisters go though the process. So she knows the good bad and bad of the process. She knows what seems one way may not necessarily mean that’s the way things are. So she took her time in making her decision to join the Monmouth University women’s basketball program. She wanted a place that she felt she could make an impact and trust. She believes she has found that in Monmouth and Coach Wetmore.

Anyone who has met Tessa Carman has feel in love with her personality. She is funny, caring and very protective of those around her. She and her sisters Ally and Emma are as tight as sisters can be. In a lot of ways they are each other best friends and protectors. The girls have trained together their entire lives. They all played for the SHORESHOTS AAU PROGRAM and attended RBC. So much has always been expected of the girls. All three have diabetes and had to overcome this along the way. But it was Tessa, that everyone believed would on day do things that are magical and these days it seems Tessa is living up to all those predictions.

Tessa Carman, is having a year that kids can only dream about. This year she helped RBC when a State Championship for the first time in almost a decade. The captain of the team along with Christina Liggio, she was dominate in the Championship game. She helped RBC beat SJV for the first time in too many years to count. She was the RBC PORM QUEEN. She was MVP at the NBS SUMMER CAMP. Then she was off the charts all summer playing for the SHORESHOTS AAU TEAM. Tessa Carman has grown as a player both physically and emotionally. She is a true leader and most importantly a winner.

Jon and Candice Carman know the dangers of picking a college out of high school. They have burned along the way. Nothing makes a parent more cautious than after seeing a kid get brunt not once but twice in the recruiting process. They now know honesty is not a given in the process. It’s why they wanted Tessa to take a her time in making a decision. Then encouraged her to listen to everyone. Not to take anything for granted and to pick a school she knew valued her more than anything else. Both parents were not swayed by NIL money. Though they wanted to make sure their daughter was treated fairly. They wanted Tessa to attend a school that proved Tessa was a priority. Not talk about it but show it. Monmouth did this and both parents are thrilled they will get to see every one of their daughter’s college games at home. They will sit in the stands and know a great decision was made because they can be there for their daughter if she needs any type of support.

TESSA CARMAN, has been coached hard over the years. She has played for RBC’s Joe Montano, so there is no question she’ll be prepared for college. She has been in the gym since 3rd grade, 3-4 hours a day. She has felt the wrath of Tiny Green’s mad raging and hurtful words. Yet not once did she not respond. She was always bigger and stronger than most girls. But never got the benefit of being treated younger or her age. She was always treated as if she was a senior in high school. So much has been expected. Yet she has exceeded all expectations. Think about this, how many players could have carried the weight that Tessa Carman has been carrying around the the last three years and then deliver, CHIPS, STATE RANKING AND NATIONAL RANKING? I doubt many and she has done it with grace and that beautiful smile every step of the way.

This is a big moment for Monmouth University, the Shore Community, RBC and every kid who dreams of being a local kid that made good. That’s because Tessa Carman is staying home. Now it will be cool to attend Monmouth if your a star player, now it will be cool to go to a Monmouth game and root just a little harder for one of your own. Now MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY has a chance to one day lace up vs the big dogs…. BECAUSE TESSA CARMAN JUST MADE MONMOUTH UNIVERSITY WOMENS BASKETBALL MATTER
