SJV OPEN GYM PROFILE

Coaches, when you talk about an open gym at SJV you must be very careful and do your homework before you arrive. You be wise to check in with Coach Karpell first. That’s because so often kids at SJV improve dramatically from season too season. They, SJV also often have players who float under the radar for a year of two because of their depth of talent. In a strange way this is really a blessing. That because the SJV practices on most nights is more competitive than any high school game they or anyone else may play. The players are also in one of the best environments in the country. You can count on one hand the numbers of SJV that haven’t been highly successful in college. That’s because all SJV players are prepared to play and compete at the next level, the day they graduate from high school. SJV is breeding ground for developing talent and turning it into superstars. Here is a deep dive into the SJV roster

SENIORS

ALEENA DINKER is a 5’9″ lighting quick guard. If you have not been paying attention, you may not notice the major upgrade in her shooting ability. She is a excellent ball handler and top notch on ball defender. She is an elite student, there is no question she is a D1 player. She can play any guard position and more importantly will accept any role….THIS IS A DIVISION ON PROSPECT

BROOKLYN TAYLOR is a 5’9″ guard with a college ready body. It is shocking to me how many Patriot and Ivy’s have not caught on to this young lady. This is a classic case of a kid being miss evaluated by coaches. She has proven she can score, shoot and run a team from either guard positions. She is a physical defender and has a wonderful basketball IQ and feel for the game. THIS IS A MONSTER BIG TIME D1 SLEEPER

JUNIORS

MADISON KOCIS is a 6ft combo guard who is one of the most improved players not just NJ but the country in my opinion. She is without question one of the 5 best players in New Jersey this year. She was MVP of the NBS camp and has one of the most compete packages on the east coast for a guard. She is an elite post up guard, Elite rebounding guard, Elite passer and shooter with 28ft range. Her efficiency is off the charts…SHE IS A P5 STARTER AND IVY TYPE STUDENT

TAYLOR SOLFKANCH is a 6’4″ mobile post player who can shoot three’s or post up. She is physical and aggressive defender. She also is a big time athlete who has an engaging personality. She is currently ranked as a Top 20 players in her class by ESPN. She is also and elite student. This is a player that can play for any school in the country. She is a once in a lifetime type post player even by SJV standards

STELLA LOCKHART is a 6’0” who seems to show a different improved skill set every time she stets on the floor. She has a powerful college ready body. She is nimble and quick, not to mention athletic. Her skills sets are next level. She is a great passer and can truly be a point forward type. She can step to three, post up or go off the bounce. She is a possible P5 player. One of favorite because she is constantly evolving.

CHARLOTTE BRADLEY is a 5’8” competitor. She is a deadly shooter. Has a wonderful IQ and is a real teammate. She has been a part time starter at times. She is a deadly shooter with serious range. She has a full understanding of team defense. She could possibly wear a D1 uniform one day. Certainly a player coaches must pay attention too!

SOPHOMORE’S

TATUM SHARPE IS A 6’0” Long and athletic wing. She is starting to enter the recruiting phase as she has begun to pick up D1 offers. She is quick and explosive at the rim. She is a much improved jump shooter. She is a very loyal hard working kid. She has the potential to be an Elite lock down defender at the next level. THIS IS A FUTURE HIGH MAJOR STARTER

LISSY LYONS is a 5’10” talented forward. If she can remain focused and locked in the sky’s the limit. She has improved her three point shooting which was an issue in the summer. She has a nice feel and moves smoothly… SHE IS A FUTURE D1 SWING.

IBRYNN UTTER is a 5’8” athletic Prototype SJV guard. She is tough and competitive. She is an excellent shooter off the bounce and has a big future. Look for her to continue to develop. There is no reason to believe she can’t develop into a excellent college player
