FUTURE STAR; ANGELYN ALMONTE “A DIFFERENT ONE”

Let me tell you what greatness sounds like. It starts with words like “yes coach”… “thank you coach”… “good morning Coach”…. “ good to see you coach”. You see, greatness always has respect for all those around them. Then understand its builds unity and trust. But let me tell you watch greatness looks like. It has a presence. You know that thing that makes all eyes notice it. See presence is that thing you see. It’s the way it walk in a building. In their eyes. Presence is that thing that separates good from great, that thing we can’t put into words. But what does presence mean without the most important thing of all? THAT MAGICAL AND RARIST OF COMBINATIONS. You know what I’m talking about, WHEN TALENT AND WORK ETHIC MEET…. Angelyn Almonte, is one of those rare talents with this gift. She is a 8th grader with all the above gifts. She is “A DIFFERENCE ONE ”

I have been blessed to see almost all the best 8th graders in recent years, not just in games. But in the gym training. I have meet the parents. I know the kids work wethic and personality. I know the ones who are truly destined for greatness. I know the ones who will walk into all the traps. I know the ones that will go from “WOULD HAVE BEEN… TO COULD HAVE BEEN”. Angelyn Almonte, is one day going to be “she has been”. As in been different. That’s because after spending 4 days with her. I know she is as different as any of the 8th graders I have seen recent years.

Angelyn Almonte, plays AAU basketball for team Sharpe. I’m sure there are 8th graders out there who are better than or as good as Angelyn Almonte. It just I haven’t seen them. That’s unless Justine Pissott or Madison St. Rose are planning to return to 8th graders basketball. You see Angelyn Almonte, is smooth, explosive and insanely skilled. She is 5’10” long and athletic. But it’s her basketball IQ and competitive nature that’s give her that presence you don’t look for in the great ones. That’s because it finds you. In this case, it slaps you across the face the moment you see it. You see Angelyn Almonte is that kid whenever anyone walks in the gym. The first thing they ask is who is that kid? You don’t have to ask who they are talking about. You already know it’s Angelyn Almonte they are asking about. That’s because when your handle is filled with ankling breaking skills, when your athleticism and quickness jumps off the page and your work ethnic is on a whole different level. It’s clear to anyone, you don’t have to be brainwashed to know you’re looking a DIFFERENT ONE, a game changer. Angelyn Almonte, is going to be one of the next big things in New Jersey. She will be every P5 coaches coaches dream.

It’s amazing how some kids are natural leaders. It’s amazing how kids what to follow some kids, especially when at 5’9” then can grab the rim. It makes for younger kids asking you to do it all week. But that’s not why Angelyn Almonte peers, who just met her, clearly liked her and wanted to be around her. It was because of her kindness and work ethic. You can see how easy going she is and how inclusive she is. You can tell, there is no ego or sense of entitlement because she can shoot a basketball from the parking lot or can play any defensive position on the court. She is simply very like able and these days. That’s a skill set few talented players have in there bag. But if you met Angelyn Almonte‘s parents you would fully understand. The parents say things like “thank you” .. “appreciate you”… “that’s for having her” and “god bless “ The parents never played basketball. They just know people are telling them, their daughter is a “DIFFERENCE ONE” and they hope to guide her into the right arms with the right people. NEWSFLASH, there is zero doubt in my mind, Angelyn Almonte is in GREAT HANDS.

I asked Angelyn Almonte, what high school she was going to attend? She then shocked me and said I live in Bergen County. My mind immediately went to KYLIE CAPSTRAW who use to travel to Hoop Group and NBS every weekend as a 8th grader as well. I know the toll it takes on the pocket and clock. Angelyn Almonte and her parents did this 90 min trip one way for a week over the holidays, not just on a weekend. It was just another layer to why this kid is different.

I don’t know where ANGELYN ALMONTE will attend high school. I just know wherever she goes GREATNESS will follow her. That because is truly a “ DIFFERENCE ONE ” and there are levels to this thing and anytime Angelyn Almonte, shows up, she’ll be on a different level than everyone else.
