ENJOY THE RIDE ON WEDNESDAY 🎆🍾🥂 🏀😀

This Wednesday dreams are going to be fulfilled. Hard work and commitment will be rewarded. Wednesday all the sacrifices, that were made over the years, will result in one of the happiest days in a basketball players life. Wednesday players will sit in front of a crowd of teammates, friends, coaches and family taking pictures. They’ll be all smiles and of course some tears of joy will flow. On Wednesday the parent whose child signs will be smiling proudly. Their child’s Signature will signal that have accepted and embraced by a program, but what it won’t show is all the time, money and stress that brought them to this special day.

On Wednesday those celebrating will not think about the tears shed over the years. You will not see or think about those moments of disappointments and doubts along the way. Players and parents for one moment will forget the long drives, the AAU drama, the hotels, the money spent and the money they couldn’t afford to spend but did. On Wednesday the risk of giving up so much along the way when others wouldn’t or couldn’t will not be a thought. The smiles and joy of the moment will make such matters meaningless. Wednesday will be about making a dream finally come true🙏💕

Wednesday will be about saying THANK YOU. It will be about kids saying THANK YOU to their parents for making all the sacrifices to make the big day possible. It will be about thanking that teacher, coach, friend, brother, sister and teammate along the way. Thank you will be the word of the day. But I hope each kid says thank you to themselves as well. That because when a kid makes a dream come true… remember the journey wasn’t always a bowl of cherries, thick skin and never giving up wasn’t always so easy. But they survived the tough times and that’s why Wednesday has become possible.

There will be some sad faces Wednesday as well. They will be those kids whose time has not yet arrived or they were forced to settle on a school. It will cause doubt and maybe even a little jealously. But those kids and their parents should know, every players journey is different and their time table is different. My daughter did not choose a college until April of her senior year, that of course will be no consolation to some come Wednesday. It will in fact be a difficult day for those whose dreams have not come true…YET!. But I have a message for those people, if you believe and work hard…THE DREAM WILL FIND YOU…IT ALWAYS DOES.

I hope Wednesday is a special day the for all those who will sign at a college. I wish them Gods speed. I hope they never take for granted such a beautiful achievement and day. I hope they never forget skipping the parties, giving up summers and the Sacrifices that they and those around them made. The sacrifices that others could not or would not make over the years. I hope they remember the excitement of the games, the energy in the gyms, the smiles on the faces, the fun in the Hotels, the cities visited and the friends they made along the way….because in the end… THOSE ARE THE THINGS THEY WILL REMEMBER MOST🙏🌹💪…. ENJOY THE RIDE!
