CLASS OF ‘29 AVERY “Workhorse” GOLDFEDER… anything she wants!

Today is signing day. It’s day when kids all across the country are rewarded for working hard and making a dream come true. These are the kids who truly have put the work in and made all the sacrifices. Some of the kids who were lucky enough to sign at a D1 school., were simply D1 bound from start.

While others had to find a way to this dream. It’s amazing watching kids like Eli Clark, Allison Cannon and now Mackenzie Teevan make their way to D1 basketball on signing day. That’s because it was unpredictable. But they had a special work ethic and a real desire. There are now kids just like them trying to do the same. One of those kids is a 8th grader by the name of Avery Goldfeder

Today we are quick to tell a kid what is realistic and what is not. In the next 5 years Avery Goldfeder Is going hear a lot of advice from folks who have not been very successful in athletic endeavors over the years. That’s why they will try to put her in a box, tell her what her ceiling will be. That’s because they don’t know Avery Goldfeder. They know nothing about her work ethic, commitment and most importantly her incredible growth as a player. What the haters see is a skinny young 13 year girl who has not hit her growth spurt. But yet they have already decided her future. That’s because they know nothing about her. Now me I have see what she was and what she is becoming.

WORKHORSE” is the name I call Avery by. That’s because her work ethic is sick.Avery, give you 100% and more that moment she steps on the floor. Avery just refuses to settle. These days she is trying to decide what high school to choose. Recently someone said she better not go to RBC. I laughed to myself and thought. That kid can go anywhere she wants because she’ll outwork the world. Trust me on that. It’s impossible to outwork a workhorse. Avery couldn’t live with herself if someone were to out work her. It’s just not in her DNA.

I’m watching something wonderful happen these days. I’m watching a kid dripping, no let me correct that, Avery is soaking wet bathing in confidence. I’m watching a kid playing with D1 high school players stepping up and not sinking into the shadows. I’m watching her bang out three’s line it’s a job. I’m watching get to the rim. Her rail thin body driving to the rim vs some of the best players in the state. Avery Goldfeder is not shrinking playing against this competition she is thriving these days and I’m enjoying her minute of it. The next two weeks at NBS she’ll get a matchup with a D1 senior. Like every year the last two weeks are a real test for the 8th graders. I have no worries for Avery Goldfeder because she loves a challenge.

AVERY, is a great example of hard work and not full of herself. The fact that she was dismissed a year ago and not considered one of the better 8th graders make all that is coming so much sweeter for her. Often when kids are young and talented . That parents turn into know it all’s. There kids run from team to team. The family start making demands. In the process there kids start believing their own bullshit. The development slows and then it’s becomes just other what if story. But Avery is humble and her dad who brings Avery to every workout demands just one thing. She plays hard and does her best. That exactly what Avery has been doing.

As far as letter of intent day goes in 5 years. To all the doubters, let me explain something. I know the D1 lock type kids the moment they hit 8th grade. There actions and development tell you everything. Some kids are going to grind and work. Some are willing to be led and some just keep getting better. In other words, I would be describing Avery Goldfeder, she is one of those kids. And if she decides she wants to go play D1 one day at an Ivy League or some other D1 school, she will. It’s really that simple and not complicated. She is skilled, talented and competitive.. she has a real PHD

P- Passionate – in the sense she loves the game

H- Hungry in the sense she wants it all

D- DRIVEN in the sense that she knows where she want to be and how to get there

Avery Goldfeder is just going to be special. When her growth spell hits and she gets stronger. She will immediately become one of the best players in the Shore Conference. This is a young lady who is better get a good pair of Sunglasses because her future is insanely BRIGHT!

THIS IS AVERY on the first day of 7th Grade and the last day… I think you get the picture
