We live in a time where if kids are not in the spotlight. They can’t truly give their heart and soul to a bigger cause. That’s why the news that Lola McRae was off to Ursinus College was so exciting. Lola McRae has fulfilled her dream of playing basketball at the next level. She found a school that offers a top flight education. She has found her new home. Ursinus College is very lucky. Because they have a player that will doing the winning shit. Day in and out. They have found a young lady the will elevate their culture, school and sprit.
Lola McRae has spent the last 4 years helping Ranney become a Shore powerhouse. It was she, that stuck around when things got rough. It was she and parents that believed in Coach Linley’s vision, when others ran out the door. It was she, that each year got better and better. It was she, that was ok not getting crowned or glazed up. You see all Lola wanted to do was play basketball and root for her teammates. Wear her school colors and make a contribution in a meaningful way. She didn’t need the spotlight. Her parents didn’t knew to have their daughter be a so called star. It’s why Lola McRae, has exceeded every expectation during her journey. She has done it with class, without drama and being the best dam teammates a player can every wish for!!
The RANNEY high school logo in s the letter R. Well Lola MacRae put the resilient in that “R”. She has been a force for RANNEY over the years. She has watched the roster go to a complete remake in her time. But she embraced every kid who was a teammate. She has filled every role with her teammates willingly. Whenever role she was asked to play. She played it like a “ROCK STAR”… it could be defensive stopper, passer, rebounder or guard centers of guards. She never made demands. She has never put herself before the team. That’s because Lola McRae is and always will be a winner. Ursinus College is about to find out that everything and person Lola touches, TURNS TOO GOLD!
See Lola McRae is Miss Reliable, she is humble and supportive. But above all, is that she has a super power most don’t appreciate, yet is so important these days. Lola’s Emotional stability is worth more than stats. It what allows. Teams, classmates, coaches and teaches to Celebrating successes and embrace the lows. In a time when kids are constantly running away from challenges and hard times. Lola McRae give us a master class in EMOTIONAL STABILITY. She is a rock you can count on. Someone that is okay with accountability delivered on her door step. If I was being totally honest truthful. I really don’t believe Ursinus College really understands what they added to their program. They will quickly find Lola McRae, is not like us. She is one of the rare ones. The type of kid when she graduates everyone cries and begs her for one year. She is the ultimate program kid.
When Lola McRae arrived at Ranney, there were kids with bigger reputations. She was an afterthought. The team was expected to finally make Ranney basketball relevant. Lola was not expected to play a big role as dreams of a State Top 20 ranking. Shore SCT contenders danced around in everyone’s head. Well all the so called stars are gone and those dreams were never fulfilled. But Lola McRae along with Haley Poser stuck around. It was they and their new teammates who actually made all those dreams a reality. They were a State Top 20 Team and they were a SCT contender. They finished ranked 4th in the Shore Conference. You see Lola McRae, knew is didn’t have to be bigger, or look for something better. She didn’t need more. She understood sometimes you just have to work a little harder, trust a little more and above all believe!
