KASEY CHAMBERS CONTINUES DOING BIG THINGS…

Last week was a big day for Kasey Chambers, her mother Mary Beth Chambers and her entire family. You see Kasey Chambers has been doing big things her entire young adult life. She has overcome every obstacle put in her way. She has ALWAYS had to work harder than everyone else. Overachieving and exceeding all expectations is what she has always done on and off the court..Now she is on way to more greatness in the so call real world and not one person who knows her is surprised.

Kasey Chambers was a FIRST TEAM ALL SHORE PLAYER. She didn’t earn the award with points and stats. She never averaged more than 7 points a game. She did it by being the ultimate teammate. One of the smartest players in Shore history. She just was masterful at elevating her teammates and coaches. How else can you explain her shutting down and turning the lights out in some of the Shire All Time great scorers. How else can you explain her team bearing the Mabrey sisters and Michigan’s all time leading scorer, Katelynn Flaherty. You see Kasey has always beat the odds. Everywhere she goes greatness follows.

When she chose her dream school Monmouth University. It was expected to be the start of something special. Her family, her 2nd mother Cheryl Volda( in picture, passed away) and friends would be at every game. But Monmouth was struggling as a program. The coaches didn’t understand the mental health issues in Kasey life. Kasey had played in the best AAU Team in Shore history and used to winning, organization and team philosophy. She was coming off the greatest high school experience and could ask for a SCT TITLE. But Monmouth was a program had lost its way. It would have been for easier to do what most kids do in that situation. Go though the motions and ride it out with the scholarship. But Kasey Chambers is not like most kids. So she packed her bags and left. Nobody from Monmouth called her to wish her well. No administrators had an exit interview to find out why she left. It was heartbreaking to witness. But it was a blessing because Kasey fell into the arms of her angel U PENN Head Coach Mike McLaughlin.

Mike McLaughlin is so much more than a successful basketball coach. He is a mentor, truth teller and a compassionate person. Kasey Chambers found her soul mate as a coach. Mike McLaughin taught Kasey how to love the game again. He reminded her how talented she was. Mike McLaughlin gave Kasey Chambers her life back. The two helped U Penn women’s basketball reach heights. Nobody believed was possible. They won back to back IVY TITLES and went to the NCAA. Kasey career at U PENN was dream like. But like I told you greatness , over achieving and exceeding expectations is what KASEY does, it part her DNA

Kasey Graduated Summa cum laude the highest academic distinction, awarded to students who graduate with the highest honors. Phi Beta Kappa (ΦΒΚ) is the oldest academic honor society in the United States, founded in 1776 at the College of William & Mary. It’s considered the most prestigious academic honor society in the country

Kasey  was also the Recipient of the George Frasier scholar athlete award  given to a graduating student-athlete (male or female) with the highest GPA who competed on one of the following teams: basketball, crew, track & field, soccer, baseball, football. I think you get the picture. This is a very special person, athlete and daughter.
