Some decisions are harder than other ones. But in the end a decision must be made in order to move on. It’s why CAROLINE POLLOWAY OF RED BANK REG, took her time and weighed all her options before giving JOHN HOPKINS A VERBAL COMMITMENT. It was long thought out decision by she and her family. It a decision that was based on education and her future. It was a decision that she can be proud of for years to come. Caroline Polloway, has been in the fire and survived the journey!
Two summers ago Caroline Polloway decided to play EYBL. So she joined the NJ GEMZ and watched most games from the bench. It was a shock to her system and worst disrupted her recruiting. The phone calls stop coming and the once apple of so many coaches eyes had to make a decision. Grind and move on or complain. She choose to grind. She also made the biggest decision of her basketball career. She jumped into her training with both feet. She lived in the gym. The result was she had an excellent season for RBR. She reminded coaches of her potential. But these days potential is not worth much unless it’s fulfilled. So Caroline Polloway made her 2nd wonderful decision. She decided to play AAU this past summer for the CHAMBERS SHORESHOTS.
MARY BETH CHAMBERS is a master of developing post players. She demands her guards learn how to feed the post as well. So this summer Caroline Polloway got what she has needed more than anything else. A “MASTER CLASS” lesson in post play all summer. That lesson led to Caroline Polloway playing the best AAU basketball of her career. It led to her fulfilling her potential. She was sensational all summer. She showed coaches what she truly could be… A DOMINANT POST PLAYER on both sides of the ball. Something else happened for Caroline Polloway as well, college coaches returned and soon she had to make another big decision.
They say learn from your mistakes. Well Caroline Polloway has clearly done this. That’s why SHE TURNED DOWN D1 OFFERS to attend John Hopkins University. See she doesn’t care about hype. She knew she had to make life decisions. If she wanted to secure her future. She decided that the reason she played basketball ever summer, traveling around the country and living in the gym was to get into a GREAT school. Not a good school, too many sacrifices have been made over the years. So she made a decision, only few kids are strong enough to make in the era of social media and hype. She walked away from D1 offers. If you think it’s easy to walk away from a free education, think again. If you think it’s easy to pass on the nice gear, playing in the big arena’s and on TV…Think again! She was on the All Freshman Team, a team where every single is member is going D1. She will be the TEAM CAPTAIN FOR A 3RD CONSECUTIVE YEAR at RBR. Caroline Polloway had to check her ego at the door to make this decision. But Caroline Polloway has learned what matters most over the years. She has figured out what the good stuff is really about. You have to be kicked around a bit before that happens. Well CAROLINE POLLAWELL has been kicked around a bet, but now it will be she who will be kicking butt, the next 4 years at JOHN HOPKINS, that I can promise you.
We forget the many accomplishments that Caroline, has accomplished. How she surprised everyone and was ALL FRESHMAN 1st Team, how she led RBR to a WOBM CHAMPIONSHIP and was MVP. How she has been a force at RBC both on and off the court. She is heavily involved in student government, SHE IS THE CLASS PRESIDENT OF THE ENTIRE SCHOOL. She is ranked 10th in her class as well. She has learned to balance all this, while still being one of the best players in the Shore Conference. She has played on a young team in the past. A talented young group that doesn’t always know how to get her the ball. Yet you have never seen her display anger at her teammates. Her Coach John Truman is hard on her but she is coachable always. See Caroline is naturally a happy person. A fun person to be around. See, she is always smiling and upbeat. There is a reason for this… her parents!
When things go bad for kids, they run. When kids don’t play well, it’s the coaches fault. When other kids are shinning. You don’t like or believe in their kid. This is the way parents behave these days. Not the Polloway family, they don’t run and they always see the bright side. They root for other kids. Merric and Bridget knew their daughter would overcome any obstacles in front of her. Their son Michael was a test drive and Caroline benefited from his journey. It taught her parents how to navigate the recruiting process, both IVY GRADS, they have seen other parents blaming others and complaining. They knew these actions doesn’t solve problems or make good people. Hard work does and right now CAROLINE POLLOWAY has learned her lessons well. She embraces hard work, commitment and loyalty. These things start at home and CAROLINE has such a lovely home.
I tease Caroline Polloway everyday about her work ethic. I tell her she doesn’t work hard enough. But the truth of the matter is CAROLINE POLLOWAY is a workhorse, always has been. She laughs at my nonsense now. Nobody works as hard as she does and nobody cares as much. Even now that she has chosen a college, while others are in the sometimes mode. She is working harder than ever. She takes advantage of every minute of the day. She studies 6 hours a night but still gets her work in. That’s because secretly, I know something about Caroline Polloway, few know. Caroline, never wants to let anyone down. She is insanely unselfish and giving. That’s why I know for a fact, JOHN HOPKINS is getting a ROCK STAR PLAYER AND HALL OF FAME PERSON AND FAMILY.
