NCAA EXTENDS THE DEAD PERIOD UNTIL JANUARY 1ST

THE NCAA VOTED TO EXTEND THE RECRUITING DEAD PERIOD. This will certainly send many kids into a panic. Parents will also start to panic as well. Regardless of how much I try to explain there is no need to panic, parents will and this is how big mistakes happen. Yes the dead period is stressful but it does not have to be, if you would just listen to those who know what they are talking about. Information is king.

Let me start with this and it’s the hardest thing for parents and kids to do. Stop worrying about recruiting at this point. There is nothing you can do to change your situation, with the schools who have already contacted and seen you play. They will need to see you live at this point, something is making them hesitate for now. As long as they are talking to you, they are interested. They either want you or have you on the board as a 2nd choice. Believe me I was not my wife’s first choice either. So there is nothing wrong with being a 2nd choice. But what you can’t become is a pain in the ass. Call or text once a week to check in. Stop texting and calling every day.

What can change your situation is finding schools who have not seen you play. Schools that are in need of a player at your position and talent. THERE ARE TONS OF SCHOOLS WHO FALL INTO THIS CATEGORY. But you have to find them with phone calls and personal letters. Here is some advice, stop with the emails. Coaches skim them and rarely read them in full. Now personal letters they read every word. Pick a day for recruiting and recruiting talk once a week. Stick to it, don’t make it the topic of the day…. everyday…THERE ARE PARENTS I REFUSE TO DISCUSS RECRUITING WITH.

Next are you spending all your time playing games and practicing with the same people? Good luck because most college coaches are not watching those videos. Coaches have seen you way too many times at this point, your over exposure on video is starting to show all your misgivings.. The videos that matter are the ones to schools who have not discovered you…THAT LIST IS LONG AS HELL You be wise to focus on those schools at this point. Again be smart and inform the coaches you are sending a video first, so they can expect it.

WHAT’S YOUR PLAN? DO YOU HAVE A PLAN…NOW DON’T TALK ABOUT IT…. SHOW ME!

Sit down with you high school coach and come up with a game plan. January 1st is a long time away. So you better have a plan in place and not just hoping for a miracle each day because it’s not coming. That plan must include.

A.) What schools can your coach call…and why

B.) How can you create “REAL” interest over the next 3 months and stay relevant

C.) Who are the people you must get to advocate for you..you cannot have a army of people calling and having their hands in the cookie jar…

D. You better find out real quick what part of your game or personality is missing and fix it nowthere is a reason you don’t have a offer and don’t let anyone tell you different.

DO NOT DO THE FOLLOWING..

  1. Let others handle you recruiting. Personal contact means everything thing right now
  2. Stop listening to people who are truly ‘NOT” connected.. most want you to believe that they are…THERE NOT
  3. DON’T SHARE YOUR INFORMATION REGARDING RECRUITING
  4. Stay updated on all NCAA recruiting news… the early bird gets the worm
  5. COMPLAIN…

TONIGHT….
