There are things that make sense. This is one those things. There is a journey that takes place in order to play college basketball. You start at an early age and you go through the up and downs along the way. The goal in the end is to one day find a college that makes you happy. Hopefully it’s a school that can secure a future. While the education is most important, it certainly doesn’t hurt if that schools basketball team is good as well. Well LISSY LYONS of St. John Vianney has found not a good school academically but one of the best in the country. She is not going to a good basketball program, she is going to one of the best in country regardless of level of play. That’s because LISSY LYONS has given a verbal commitment to NYU. The one school she has dreamed about the last two years.

Lissy Lyons has done a lot of winning in her basketball career while at SJV. She knows what winning championships feel like. She knows what winning big games feels like. She knows what being Nationally Ranked feels like. She done all that and more in her time at SJV. Maybe that’s one of the reasons she chose NYU over a D1 school. NYU wins games, a lot of them. They won BACK to BACK D3 National Championships. They didn’t lose a game for over two years. They won the most consecutive games in NCAA history regardless of level of play. You see NYU can make a claim they are best combination of basketball and education in the country. Lissy lyons can make a claim she just made the best decision of any player in New Jersey. She now will be part of something special. Something bigger that herself. Something that will give her all the things she has been dreaming about since she put on a pair of sneakers.

When Lissy Lyons entered high school. Many believed she was the best player in the 2027 class. But when she arrived at SJV, they were wrapping up the greatest run in New Jersey history. She had to wait her turn to make an impact, like so many SJV great players before her. Last season Lissy Lyons got her chance. She showed flashes of what she could become. This spring Lissy Lyons didn’t show flashes, she showed greatness. While at Jersey Live she showed that she is gearing up for a magical senior year. Her game has blossomed. Her improvement has been dynamic. Watching her run the floor, cut to the basket, pass and shoot three’s has been eye popping at times. Lissy Lyons looks like a player on a mission. There is little doubt that she is fulfilling her once expected dominating potential. She looks every bit as one of the best 2027’s in the state. It’s why NYU is excited about their newest soon to be star.

LISSY LYONS is without question one of the most well liked kids you could meet. It’s impossible not to like her. You only wish more kids were like her. She always greets you with a smile. She is the ultimate teammate who is caring and giving. Her goodness drips out of her pores. These are not words but facts. Her parents have been very supportive of her over the years. They have wanted so much more for her than just basketball. High basketball and AAU basketball is hard on parents and can cause lots of unhappiness at times. But for Lissy Lyons and her parents, they are in the golden years, the happy times these days. That’s because everything has come together. All the hours shooting with her dad Marty, who acted as her personal rebounding machine is paying off now. She will cherish those days, conversations and memories her entire life. Lissy’s mother Cathy unwavering support was key to all her dreams coming true. She was Lissy’s rock through the years. It was she who tuned out those, who believed Lissy should transfer and take the easy road, when things got hard. It was she that took the heat for her daughter. Cathy Lyons has been Lissy”s true angel. Lissy’s coach Dawn Karpell has full trust in her. Her high school team will be ranked #1 in the state and Shore Conference to start her senior year. Lissy will be in the starting lineup for the first time. Her AAU team UNITED has given her their full support. It was her United family that gave her the exposure. The crowned her and sang her praises to the hill tops. When Jimmy “O” speaks of Lissy Lyons a smile comes across his face. It’s as if he wishes her had 2 more years with Lissy Lyons. Joe Gaba could not stop bragging about her greatness. United loves Lissy Lyons and they showed it on and off the court. It was her trainer Doug Shaw who unlocked her greatest. It was he who showed how to fall in love with the gym. Doug Shaw helped Lissy Lyons find her game and how to dominate. He was her master teacher with the magic dust. She will never forget his kindness and belief in her. You see Lissy Lyons has had a wonderful INNER CIRCLE. One that cared for her dearly. One that understood what she and her family needed. It was her INNER CIRCLE that helped lead her to one of the best programs in America in NYU.

If anyone thinks LISSY LYONS road has been easy, they have not been paying attention. There has been many tears shed by she and her family over the years. Things have not always been easy gone smoothly. But Lissy Lyons and her family have beat back adversity with love and support of each other. They know what drama looks like, they know what disappointment looks her. But they also know what fighting for one’s future and happiness requires. LISSY LYONS has fought the good fight and now after years of dreaming about NYU… She has made her dream a reality.
