SJV has some of the best young talent in the state of New Jersey. Some get lots of attention and praise about there talent. These players are as we like to say are on the map. What happens from there is anyone’s guess. Some will go on to fulfill there promise and others may not. That’s life in all sports. BRYNN UTTER is not on the map yet. She is not a household name. What she is these days is a two sport athlete, who happens to exceptional at both. She is a star softball player and the most underrated basketball player in the 2027 class.
When you ask about the best players in the 2027 class, the name Brynn Utter never comes up. That’s because she is overshadowed by the enormous talent at SJV. When you talk about the SJV underclassmen her names never comes up. That because she doesn’t travel exclusively in basketball circles all year. But guess what I know? She is the best athlete maybe in the 2027 class. Guess what else I know? If she chooses, she most certainly will wear a D1 uniform one day. That because she has something we just can’t teach. Natural talent and instincts. She also has a vicious, competitive nature. You see when things all shake out in 3 years. BRYNN UTTER, just may be the best guard not only in a SJV uniform but the best guard in the shore. Those are strong words but truth.
BRYNN UTTER, didn’t play AAU for a highly visible AAU team like the Shoreshots or Philly Rise. She doesn’t care to brag about playing on bad EYBL teams and then pretend, she is special. So most don’t know much about her. She isn’t tied to any one trainer or organization. She is like a like a wolf that does her own thing. She doesn’t travel in packs. That sounds like an Alpha female to me. You see whenever I see her, she reeks with confidence. That’s because she knows she has the tools to be a special player. Her quickness is next level, her physicality is next level. Her speed and ability to stop and change directions is so next level. But her athletic jumper, the one that few girls shoot is not just next level, it’s special. Her lift on her jumper is a thing of beauty. The quickness of the release is beyond next level. You see Brynn Utter checks lots of boxes for so a young player, you just don’t know it.
Now make no mistake, there is much work to done before Brynn Utter fulfills all her potential. I’m not sure if Softball or basketball will be her choice of sport at the next level. She has lots of time to make that decision. But while she is waiting, she will take full advantage of what she has at SJV. Great coaching and great competition. Two things that help squeeze a players talent and lord knows there is a lot of talent to squeeze out of Brynn Utter. But more importantly, she is all about being pushed and wants the coaching. Isn’t it funny that the good kids always want more knowledge?
I know first hand how kids run from gym to gym in order to make a name for themselves. To be part of the in crowd. I know lots of kids get hype, who in the end do not live up to that hype. That’s because everything they and their parents do has an agenda. I know kids who are in the gym for hours and never improve. There too busy trying to make a statement vs getting better. I know politics rule the day now in high school and AAU sports across the country. It hype over substance and game. Clicks over reality. Brynn Utter is not part of that world. She is just a kid playing a sport. Not to get a scholarship, not to gather attention. But rather a kid just trying to be the best they she can at something she enjoys. Well the fact of the matter is this… she is better at it than just about any 2027. I have seen this year. Now that’s not talk or hype or BS… it’s just a good old fashioned FACT… you just don’t know it!
