THIS IS WHEN IT GETS TOUGH: THE DOG DAYS OF THE FALL IS TRUTH MEDICINE
This is when kids begin to separate themselves.
This is when you start to see who will walk onto a college campus in the spring and actually be ready.
We are officially in the DOG DAYS OF FALL.
And this is when the story is being written.
Most kids, parents — and even coaches — don’t understand it.
College coaches and college players understand it.
They are in the LAB.
They get greedy with their time. They try to steal every minute of every day. Some are starting their days at 5 AM because they understand something most people don’t:

TIME IS EVERYTHING.
College coaches know the picture is being painted right now. They know the season is being built right now. They know stacking days, hours and workouts eventually separates players.
College is NOT high school.
And for high school players, learning how to manage time is part of becoming a college player.
Getting to the finish line in the fall isn’t easy.
That’s why so few do it.
This is also SHORTCUT CITY for a lot of kids.
Some are trying to get their strength and conditioning program going.
Some are trying to improve their speed.
Some are trying to find time for their personal trainer.
Some have demanding academic schedules.
Some are stuck in weak high school programs and have to find ways to get better despite their environment.
It’s a challenge.
But the kids who figure it out?

THEY SHINE.
The ones who don’t become the old story:
“They could have been.”
“They should have been.”
And that story gets repeated every single year.
You’ll see the player sitting around all day trying to save their legs for a fall league game.
You’ll see the player go to the park, shoot around with a friend for an hour and convince themselves they got better.
You’ll see the player stay comfortably in their bubble, training around the block with the same players who aren’t pushing them.
And then there are the ones who understand.
They are in the gym.
They are competing — not just drilling.
They are attacking weaknesses.
They are getting stronger.
They are getting faster.
They are getting shots up.
They are working on their academics.
They are covering ALL the bases.
They don’t take shortcuts.

THEY FEAR SHORTCUTS.
They understand that nobody is coming to save them.
Not politics.
Not a connection.
Not a favor.
Not a lucky break.
They understand that eventually, YOUR WORK HAS TO SPEAK.
These are the kids with the big futures.
These are the kids who aren’t lying to themselves.
They do the extra stuff.
They do THE HARD SHIT.
And when the high school season starts, you can see the difference.
Then it carries into the spring.
Then into AAU.
Then onto the college campus.
Because success doesn’t suddenly appear in the spring.
IT STARTS NOW.
The fall is truth medicine.
It tells you where kids are going.
And here’s the problem:
Most kids don’t understand any of this.
Not because they don’t have talent.
Not because they don’t have opportunity.
Because they don’t understand the most important lesson of all:

HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF.
Every year.
The same shortcuts.
The same excuses.
The same missed opportunities.
And every year, there are a few who refuse to become part of that story.
THE FALL WILL TELL YOU WHO THEY ARE.
NO SHORTCUTS.
DO THE WORK.
GET TO THE FINISH LINE.
5 SPOTS LEFT… STARTING SATURDAY!
