ADDY NYEMCHEK GOES BACK TO BACK AGAIN… THE NEW JERSEY 2026 SHORE CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR!

Addy is the most instinctive and knowledgeable basketball player I have ever coached. She has an incredible desire to win and know what her team needs and when to do it. Addy has the school record for deflections and is top three in blocks and steals. Her block vs Ewing sophomore season at Red Bank might be the best defensive play I have ever seen.”RBC HEAD COACH, JOE MONTANO

When you talk about THE NEW JERSEY 2026 DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR. It starts with one name and one name only. ADDY NYEMCHEK OF RED BANK CATHOLIC . She is not just The New Jersey Shore Conference defensive player of the year but rather the best defensive player in the state. Do I dare say Addy Nyemchek is the best defensive player in the country based on her performance against the very best in the country last summer. There is certainly a case to be made. She now has made the ALL DEFENSIVE TEAM three years in a row. She is now the two time DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

We have never seen a more versatile defensive player in the Shore Conference in decades. Nor have we seen one like Addy Nyemchek in the state of New Jersey, in recent times. It takes real personal sacrifice to be a great defensive player. No player has given up more to their teammates and coaches as Addy Nyemchek. No player has made more big game changing defensive plays in big moments than Addy Nyemchek. Like her steal in the SCT Finals a year ago vs St. Rose late in the game or her game saving block shot vs Ewing to save the day in a game that featured two superpowers.

When you think about the RED BANK CATHOLIC team identity, the first thing that comes to mind, DEFENSE! No player has ever been asked to do so much on the defensive end of the floor at RBC and delivered more. It was Addy Nyemchek that was called a upon to turn the lights out on the best offensive players in the state late in games. It was Addy Nyemchek who set the tone for the best defensive team in recent Shore history, some say ever. Stars don’t dive on the floor for loose balls, stars don’t sprint back on turnovers. Stars don’t rotate on defense. Those things are left for the role players. Those players who can’t score, or can’t take over a game. Addy Nyemchek is no ordinary star, she doesn’t behave like a spoiled star. Addy Nyemchek, does all these things and more, she does them for her coaches, teammates and out of pride. Addy plays the role of defensive stopper that same way she takes over games, she dominates and is the all time leading scorer RBC history and also is the greatest defensive player in school history as well!

Most do not understand Defense. They do not understand defense is not just guarding the ball or stealing the ball. It’s defensively rebounding the ball. It’s rotating when teammates are beat. It talking and communicating with teammates and coaches. It’s knowing when to gamble in passing lanes and when not too. Nobody does this like Addy Nyemchek. She not only block shots shots in the lane, she changes shots in the lane, she boxes out in the lane, she bring a physicality in the lane, nobody gets more deflections or tips during a game, she had just under 100 steals this season from the forward spot in most nights.. These are hustle stats and what makes Addy Nyemchek so much different than everyone else. It why INDIANA UNIVERSITY Is excited about having their “FIRST” McDONALD ALL AMERICAN in their schools history. A player who can change a game, with a block shot, a rebound in traffic, a steal or tip. A player that can impact the outcome of a game without ever scoring a point.

It was a year ago, that Jada Lynch was taking the ball out of bounds for St. Rose in the SCT final with 4 seconds left and a chance to win the Shore Conference Tournament So what did RBC’s Coach Joe Montano do? He put his star defender on the ball, who forced a 5 second count. That star? No other than Addy Nyemchek. This year against SJV when Stellar Lockhart got on a roll and seemed unstoppable who turned the lights out on her and shut her out the last 5 mins ? You guessed it, Addy Nyemchek. When. SJV ran a final play Madison Kocis to win the SCT. Who followed the game plan and switched out on her, ADDY NYEMCHEK. When Madison Kocis drove to the basketball for a chance to give SJV a lead with under 30 seconds in the state final. Who rotated and contested the shot and grabbed the biggest rebound of the season? Yes Addy Numcheck. You see Addy Nyemchek has a little thing called pride. Defensive pride, it’s something you don’t teach. It just something you admire. We have all been witness to the Shore Conference’s defensive G.O.A.T over the past few decades. A player who did it against the best of the best across the state, time after time. It will be a very long time before we see another defensive player the likes of ADDY NYEMCHEK, our New Jersey 2026 Shore Conference DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR.
