TOMORROW WE START TO PEEK INTO THE FUTURE…. SATURDAY CORE SKILLS TRAINING KICKS OFF

I am going to give every kid in grammar school some advice today. Tomorrow morning CORE SKILLS TRAINING kicks off. Tomorrow for many it is the first step towards making there basketball dreams come true. That’s because for some it last step in preparing for high school. For some it’s the start of the separation between the kids who will move on and do magical things during there basketball career. Then finally it’s the start of kids learning how to practice and understanding how much joy development can bring.

They have all been there Madison St. Rose, Justine Pissott, Destiny Adams, Addy Nyemcheck, the Liggio sisters. Name them and they have all made the journey to Core Skills. Those 10 weekends that can establish a kid. Bring them that confidence and name recognition that leads to big things. Core Skills is a measuring stick for so many kids. It’s truth medicine. It allows a kids to really give there game a check up. It’s the last chance for 8th graders to make a move and send a message. That message being, they are doing all they can to get ready for there high school experience. It’s now you start to see which 7th graders are separating themselves from the crowd. These are things that never change from year to year. It’s what makes CORE  SKILLS so important.

Tomorrow somebody like every year will show up at CORE SKILLS. Maybe from PA, NY or CONN. Tomorrow someone from North Jersey or South Jersey will show up tomorrow and blow up. It happens every year at CORE SKILLS a kid with no reputation jumps into the spotlight. This year will be no different. Then there will be kids who develop week after week and before you know it are one of the best players in the gym. That’s the beauty of CORE SKILLS a kid can really get better and become a different maker in high school.

For me CORE SKILLS helps me learn so much about a kid. Things like do they show up every week. Do they work hard every week. Do they relate to their peers. Saturday CORE SKILLS paints a picture. It’s a peek into the future. It tells you which kids will have the right stuff or one day will have the right stuff. You get to see what is coming down the road. You learn which kids truly have embraced the game vs the kids who have excuses. It’s a fun time for all but most enjoyable for coaches paying attention .

TOMORROW CORE SKILLS KICKS OFF. I say this to parents and coaches. If you really love your kids. Give them a chance. Let them make a sacrifice that will benefit them in the future. Send them to CORE SKILLS SATURDAY. It’s really an opportunity for a kid to grow, meet friends and develop. Then maybe, just maybe they’ll make that step that leads to a great basketball experience for years to come.
