So what did we learn from yesterday’s quarter final games? Nothing new would be the answer to that question. Yesterday’s just confirmed what so many already knew. The gap between the Top 4 teams and the rest of the conference is the size of the Grand Canyon. SJV…RBC…ST. ROSE and MANASQUAN all had a nice walk in the park.
Now the SCT super powers will take center stage. Each team has a real case to win the title. Each team has created it’s own source of Motivation . SJV knows they are the team everyone wants to beat. They also know they are playing maybe the 2nd best team in the tournament in St. Rose. They no question are asking how did that happen? But Coach Karpell has seen it all and her team will be trying to prove. No matter how hard the forces who may be try to make there road to the SCT title, they are ready to overcome them . St Rose is the 4th seed and they are not happy it about it. Last year they were the 5th seed and used that as motivation to win the SCT title. They will try to use the strategy again this year. The RBC seniors have removed every monkey from there back this year. They finally beat Manasquan, there coach got to 600 wins. Team favorite Amanda Hart even broke the 20 point scoring mark, with a career high yesterday. They have won a state title and now the motivation is down to a SCT tite. Manasquan was beat last year in the SCT semi Final. They year they will be motivated to prevent that from happening again. What could be more motivating than getting sweet revenge against RBC?
Tuesday is big girl day. Tuesday will end all the talk about who should be seeded where. Tuesday will end all the talk about who the best teams are. Tuesday should clear up some All Shore decisions and could shift the PLAYER OF THE YEAR conversation in another direction. Tuesday is a chance for somebody other than a star to step up on the big stage. Tuesday somebody is going to have a chance to win another SCT TITLE. Tuesday somebody’s season is going to end in disappointing fashion. Each of these schools had one goal and everything is mute…To win a SCT TITLE..
Yesterday the super powers executed 3 Ocean County teams and a surprise team in Colts Neck. They did so with the Percision of a surgeon. They overwhelmed there opposition with speed, strength and most importantly a competitive edge that is only gained though hard work and commitment.Tuesday they will need more than that, they will need to play to there last breath. There will be no blowouts come Tuesday, the games will come down to possession versus possession. Nobody will be running away from anyone. These teams are separated by a made shot or missed shot. A made free throw or missed free throw. A good or bad call late. The margin for error come Tuesday will be razor thing. Tuesday a star may not show up and and Coach may over coach or under coach. Tuesday will be about the now and the now will be the 32 minutes and anything less and somebody will have their dreams dashed.
Yesterday 4 teams showed why there programs are head and shoulders above everyone else. Yesterday 4 teams stole all the energy and sucked all the air out of the building and the SCT semi finals. Yesterday 4 teams took away all the drama we saw on Thursday. They was no holding your breath or yelling and screaming hoping to motivate your team. There was no need and no chance too. Yesterday was about talking about the NBA all star game, maybe meeting old friends at the snack bar or asking why Tiger missed the cut. Yesterday was about beating the traffic home. Yesterday the super powers took all the fun and hope for a great game out early. They left nothing for us to argue about. There were debates about bad calls, who was the best player and who got out coached. Nobody cared because it didn’t matter yesterday……
TUESDAY IT WILL MATTER AND ITS GOING TO BE LOTS OF FUN…BEFORE AND AFTER THE GAME
COME HAVE FUN AND GET BETTER
